I've been busy people!! I really have been very busy but its no excuse for my lack of blogging.
First of all, I began my new job! As you all know thrifty fashion is a huge part of my life. I love nothing more than shopping for brand names for good prices. Benjamin's Wear It Again is a perfect fit for me! Day one of work I spotted a stunning size 2, red, Vera Wang gown...holy moly it is a prize. I believe it was less than $200 also. I also saw 2 beautiful Betsey Johnson dresses that I loved. One of them was a size 4 which I think I can wear but I will not even tempt myself with it haha. So anyhow, updates will follow on great finds to come. Im so glad to find a fun job, because if you don't like your job then honestly why waste your valuable time being there?

Iris
The past year few years I have been so upset about my grandmother dying. Atleast twice a week I have cried. She died when I was 13. I don't know why it has been so hard for me lately but I think its because now that I am getting older I cannot imagine losing my mom and I hurt for my mom's sake.
Tonight my sister, niece, mom and I were going through a trunk full of things from my moms side of the family....silver dollars, valentines, family Bibles, pictures, etc... We found a valentine from my poppop to my mommom from the 5th grade. The valentine was wrapped tightly inside a letter that my mommom wrote to my poppop after he died. It was the sweetest, most poetic, saddest letter I have ever read. It talked about how much she missed him and how she enjoyed seeing the flowers and trees he had planted in the yard and how they reminded her of him. She went on to say that she could not wait to join him and they could live forever on their farm once again in heaven. Is that sad or what? That moment I decided I am not pulling up anymore of these blasted Iris plants that I hate. I have been trying to get rid of them for years and I think I might just keep them, my grandfather planted them and my grandmother loved them and so will I.

so sorry, so sorrryyyyy
I have a confession. I deleted my blog today!!! Then I was reading another blog and found a survey I liked so I restored it. I am slightly indecisive sometimes!!! Here is the survey and I am sorry for almost giving up on you guys, my faithful readers.
Mood:
BORED. Alex is home but we are both bored, and ran out of things to do.
What’s your biggest hair concern?
keeping my FREAKIN bangs out of my face.
Orange lipstick?
Yes! I would save it for the summer though...
What’s the wackiest piece of clothing you own?
Nicole Miller Sequin pants, originally 405 dollars, I bought them for 5 dollars. OR my Garfield vest haha
When things get crazy in your life, how do you keep your sanity?
relax.
What’s your preferred brow maintenance method?
I pluck them every single day with my pink tweezerman tweezers that I have had for atleast 10 years. Those babies will go to the grave with me.
Salty or sweet?
ohhh salty I think.
Three desert island essentials?
my iphone, it pretty much does everything, a solar powered charger for my iphone, rum.
Favorite ’90s music?
holy crud, what a great era. Alanis Morisette, Spice girls :P, counting crows, salt and pepper
Weekly goals:
clean, excercise, vacuum my car...

Jamie's Junk in the Trunk now open!
Well exciting things are happening :] First of all I have a job prospect, I don't want to talk about it yet because I may jinx myself but it is full time, benefits, close to home, and pays well! This also means I may not be going to California in April...which was kind of not planned yet so thats ok. Alex and I have been having a terrible time deciding what to do and I think we finally decided to either go to DC for a few days or go to the Annapolis mall one day and hang out at the Apple store :P NERDS.
Secondly, I started an Etsy account! Store one of Jamie's Junk in the Trunk has officially opened. Maybe someday I will have a real life version but for now this is perfect. Right now I only have 7 items up. Nothing has moved but people have "favorited" my items so that is really neat. I mean there is tons of people and items on Etsy and I have been favorited like 6 times! I have up items that I have loved and collected over the years (even inherited) but quite frankly I am ready to move on and love new things.
I was talking to Nicole the other day and she was like, where do you get this stuff? I said, Idk its just kind of all over my house, i've been collecting years! And she said, "I thought you liked your collection?" I do like my collection but I can't keep collecting if I hold onto every little thing! I guess I never saw it from someone elses point of view so I thought that was interesting.
Ok well visit my store, new stuff will be up next week also. On Etsy you can only sell handmade or antique/vintage items so thats why everything is old and probably wouldn't interest any of my friends haha.

mac
Happy February! Yesterday was the grand day that I have been waiting for ever since the Iphone came out. It was available for verizon customers to order online! Of course I missed the deadline and can order mine on February 9th. I cannot wait to get mine. I am convinced this will be the last brand of phone I will ever need to buy. I have had Macs since I was a kid. My sister had a Mac in college (yea back in the 80s haha). And then when she graduated she gave it to me. I had that thing for quite a long time. I remember typing papers on it in the 4th grade. That computer was so old it only did like 3 things- printed papers, played 3 games, and I think it had a calculater but I wouldn't sware by that. The screen was even in black and white. I wish I still had that thing- its a total relic!!!!!! Anyhow thats my mac memories for the day haha.

things that I find annoying lately
Well any college graduate could understand my frustration with the next few topics haha.
-First of all its annoying that people don't understand why I took my pre-college job back. I don't have a job. They called me for a job. Put two and two together and some money is better than none.
-Next, it really is annoying when people keep telling me I should open a boutique. If you haven't noticed we are in an economic slump! Also the only places where I could open a boutique that would do remotely well around here...are not close to my house at all.
-Third annoying topic..."why don't you move to New York and open a business?" UMMMM thats nice except I don't have any money to just pick up, move, rent an apartment, and a space to open my boutique plus buy inventory!
ps. went back to work tonight and loved it, missed it, and can't wait to go in on wednesday haha.
And people who were obsessed with Jess and my long hair and can't understand why we cut it....grow your hair to your ass and see how you like it. :]

Las Vegas, California and beyond.
Well I have had a very exciting month of January so far. I won't give every detail because either I have already told you or plan to tell you when I see you next but, in the last few weeks I went to Las Vegas and several places in California. Las Vegas was fun but I had more fun in Atlantic City! California on the other hand was definitely a whole new experience for me. I have never been somewhere with so many different climates and terrains all bundled into one. We stayed in Rancho Mirage for the majority of the trip and it was actually one of my favorite places the whole trip. Rancho Mirage is a lush, green, flowering, tropical oasis in the middle of the desert. Several famous people live and have lived in the town and when visiting there its easy to see why.
Another cool place we went was Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, and Malibu. I group them together because when your driving along the highway its almost hard to tell one from the other. I really enjoyed seeing all three of them and hope to go back and spend more time in each someday. Lastly Hollywood was a cool place to see. It would have been way cooler if I kept up with movie stars and such but I still enjoyed it!
I really can't wait to go back. I've been home almost a week and have been miserable ever since I left. Its way easier adjusting to a warm balmy climate than it is adjusting to the artic of the Eastern Shore! Alex and I are talking about going back in April. I guess we will see how my job search progression is going.
Speaking of job search, while I was in CA my old boss at Cato called and asked if I could work there till I found a job. I am so thankful to have a good boss who appreciated me as an employee and friend. I am also thankful to have some money coming in while I find a job. I know when my two best friends graduated college it took them several months to find a job and they both went back to their previous jobs and now they are doing really well. Lets just hope this is my case as well!
The past four days Alex painted my room. It was bubblegum pink with polka dots- a four year olds dream room. Now it is a burgundy/rose color. Very mature looking :] Alex still calls it pink but it definitely is more on the borderline of burgundy. Today mom and I are going to buy fabric to make curtains. I have a lovely black and white fabric picked out that will go PERFECT with the victorian look I was going for.
Well have a great day and Happy almost Birthday to me ;]

childhood celebrites
The celebrities that I thought were the "shiznit" as a kid! I was at one point or another obsessed with all of these!
Richard Geer - I still love him, what a man.

Leonardo Dicaprio- Titanic. nuff said.

Christina Aguilera- I ADORE her...big fan. I pretty much survived my entire teenage life with her music.

Mark Paul Gosselar- I've had a huge crush on him my entire life.

Aaron Carter- I was entirely too obsessed with him as a teenager...he is sooo not cute now!! its just not right.

Johnathon Taylor Thomas- I remember being crazy about him in kindergarten...

Shania Twain- I cannot stand her music now!

Celine Dion- I just don't know...I really can't listen to her anymore either

Fran Drescher- I always dreamed I would go on Opra and meet Fran. I identified with her nasal voice...haha. I also attribute my fashion sense to her...!

new years resolution
2011 is fast approaching and today I decided my resolution will to be to eat more fruits in place of junk food. My second resolution is to take time and breath every now and again. I know I seem like a laid back person but sometimes I am so on end I can't just relax and soak up what is going on around me. I really need to teach myself to do that this year because I have so many awesome things happening and I don't want them to all fly by before my eyes! So those are my resolutions, what are yours?

beauty blog
I figured I would give you an update on my olive oil skin care regimen. Well since this is only my 2nd week, so I am terribly reluctant to rant and rave over the olive oil right away but so far so good! As we all know throughout the month and every season our skin changes drastically so it is going to take a few months before I am really sold on this. So I have changed up what I am doing. I found that washing my skin with olive oil and then washing it off was really drying my skin out. The olive oil was clinging to my face oil and when I washed it off my face felt so dry. So I switched to washing my face with honey and using olive oil as the moisturizer at night and then during the day washing my face with olive oil and using regular face lotion as my moisturizer and spot moisturize with olive oil (mainly under my nose cause its so dry there). I have also used the same foundation everyday, which doesn't sound like a hard task but I switch between about 5. I have read that it is a good idea to not constantly switch your makeup as that could cause breakouts. I have yet to really see the logic behind that but I am trying it out. I also switched to a MAC powder foundation which is MUCH lighter than the MAC cream foundation I was using.
Old Regimen:
wash with cetaphil
moisturize with clinique
spot treat with clean and clear or burts bees
New Regimen:
heat honey in microwave for 6 seconds. smear on face and leave on for 20 minutes
moisturize with olive oil and leave it on. also smear in hair just for the hell of it haha
spot treat with a mixture of salt and water and leave salt on skin and dab with honey
Ok enough about my skin- seriously you would think I look like a freakin leper by reading this...
My second beauty rave is about this new lipstick I got. In fact I drove allll the way to bury today to buy it because I've been feaning for a new mac shade. seriously i have an illness. Anyhow, I love a great shade of red lipstick. I have in fact become one of those people who wears red lipstick during the daytime but I realize that sometimes its just too much depending on what I am wearing. This shade of red is just perfect. It is a very natural red but still has some pop. It goes on so nice and smooth too. I definitely recommend it for women (or men...whatever floats your boat) with a pale skin tone. It is lovely.

Lastly, I have yet to post a pic of my new hair. IT IS SO SHORT!!! I am really in love with it. And I think Alex is too believe it or not. I was convinced he was a long hair man after this last hair cut but I think he genuinely is digging me with the short hair. I haven't posted a pic of my hair because I have been so sick and every pic I take I just look like death- so of course I am waiting till I am back to good health and you shall see :]
So to some this up, buy some olive oil and honey and with all the money you save on facial care buy a great shade of lipstick to show off your new lovely skin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rasc that little uptown cheapskate.
Today poor baby Rasc gets neutered. Sad day at my house for a few reasons- Rasc is the best dog I've ever had and I would be sooo upset if something happens to the little guy. Secondly, Rasc gets so nervous and I am truly the only person in the world that he feels safe around and I am worried once I take him to get his balls chopped he won't trust me :[. The fact of the matter is it must be done. It would be cruel to let Ruby have more puppies. Physically this has been a huge toll on her fragile little body.
Pray for baby Rasc.
Secondly, After Rasc comes back from ball surgery, I am going to bury to sell my clothes to uptown cheapskate. Its this new store in Salisbury and they sell secondhand clothes- my fav! I have taken my stuff there before and they give you alot. I am expecting to get atleast a $100 for the bag I am taking today. It has a $200 pair of true religion jeans in there that just don't fit anymore. Also bringing in some Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and pretty much my entire collection of Hollister. I can't stand Hollister's clothes! They are not made for a woman with a butt at all!! We actually studied them in one of my classes and their target age is like 12-20 or something ridiculous so thats another good reason to get rid of them haha. And lastly I am taking in five Vera Bradley bags that I bought cheap off ebay. I could probably sell them on ebay and get more but I like the instant cash factor at Uptown Cheapskate.
Well Have a lovely day!
PS. I AM DONE WITH ALL MY CLASSES AND EXAMMMMMMMS

ramblings
This has been such a weird week for me. I can't get over the fact I am done with school friday. Its just like, then what?! HIRE ME?! haha Well I do have a few prospects if nothing in my "field' (whatever the hell that is) doesn't line up. Nicole said she would hire me at her store if I feel like driving an hour...and Diane at Cato said if I didn't have a job by May I could potentially take a 2nd assistant position if hers leaves. I am worried about the Cato thing because I have been 2nd assistant there before and LOVED it. Like I would have stayed there for years if things lined up right. I got a good raise and was saving up tons of money. Definitely the most money I had ever had before. But, I really think I am worth more than a job at Cato.
When I first started college I was torn between fashion major and art. In the longrun I decided fashion would be more profitable and I was more passionate about that. Now in hindsight I wish I knew how much I loved housing and interior design. I totally would have picked something related to that- and my major actually does cover housing so I guess It wasn't a total loss. My degree is actually in "human ecology" those 2 words leave alot of room for guessing haha. Anyhow, quite frankly I don't even know what I am rambling about- I think my cold medicine is getting to me. Ok have a great day!

ah damn
I've been sick and haven't slept in 2 days! Its such a catch twenty two because I haven't been able to sleep because Im up every hour having to pee and im up every hour having to pee because I drink so much tea throughout the day trying to get rid of my sore throat! I went to walmart last night looking for some therapeutic bubble bath to help with my cold and I ran across this stuff that proved to be quite wonderful.

It was very foamy and smell fantastic. It has Eucalyptus, rosehips, and chamomile. Anyhow It is comparable to the line of therapeutic stuff at bath and body works and this bottle was only 5 bucks. Much better price than bath and body works.
Anyhow pray for me I am hoping to be better before my graduation and celebration festivities :]

me me me
This whole blog thing is silly because I feel like all I ever do is talk about myself but....oh well.
Well I haven't had my hair cut in 2 months and people with short hair know that is kind of a long time. It is starting to get blah, flat, unbouncy, and just not doing what I NEED it to do. I have been thinking I was going to grow my hair out for the wedding and have ultimately decided against that. I am going to grow out my bangs-They pretty much became side bangs about a month ago so thats done haha. Anyhow I am really tired of having long hair (fascinating I cut it in August and I am still SICK thinking about it being long again haha) So tomorrow I am getting a new hairdo. Anybody that knows me knows that I love re-inventing myself so this new hair every 2 months is pretty fun. I am also contemplating getting it dyed before I go to vegas. I am going to give it some more thought after I have this haircut.
Today mom and I traveled to where she was born and grew up, Ridgely, Fetherlsburg, and Denton Maryland. She lived in ridgely but had family throughout the other towns. I haven't been there since my mommom died when I was 13- so its been about 10 years. I drove and memory led me all throughout the towns. We stopped where my great great aunt and uncle were burried and put a christmas wreath on their grave. I never remember meeting them but mom talks so fondly of them both, it makes me wish I knew them too. We also stopped where my mommom, poppop, and aunt Elsie are burried. I really wish I could have known them more too. I am so jealous of people with grandparents that they get to know really well. Anyhow a good day was had and we found a 1938 fiestaware utility tray which is something I didn't have. OH I brought my fiestware book with me and in the book it was apraised at 42.00 and the owner had it marked as 65.00. We asked if they would match the book price and they did! Pays to be a smart antiquer.

graduation, olive oil, wedding dress.
Well I graduate next week in about 9 days. I have never had so many mixed emotions about any single event like I have graduating. Some days I am really exuberant and happy. Some days I am really proud of myself and weepy that I actually did it (which I really didn't think I would). Some days I am sad and never want school to end. Some days I am all three of these and in the same car ride I will be giddy and happy then turn to gloomy and sad haha. I am really going to miss school. I love my teachers, I love all the crazy people I met in the past five years, I love the campus. And I hate people who are negative about UMES...If you don't like it transfer, if you don't go there then you have no reason to hate it!!!
So a few days ago I told you that I was going to switch to olive oil and forgo all of my face washes, lotions, and EVERYTHING. Well I have. I haven't touched any face wash, face scrub, astringent, or moisturizer, I even gave up foundation and just used concealer. My face is looking 100 percent better. I can't believe slathering oil on my face has cleared up my oily skin but it did, and it made my dry skin moister. Skin really does change. When I was 12 I started using Oxyclean. I swore by that for atleast 5 years and then all of a sudden it stopped working. Then I switched to Cetaphil which was amazing up until here recently. I guess my face has gone through another transition. Plus, I actually look forward to washing my face with olive oil. It is actually kind of fun haha.
Lastly, I ordered my wedding dress yesterday! So here is the story. Last monday when I went and tried on wedding dresses I fell in love with this one dress. I didn't decide on it right away because there was a dress coming in that I still wanted to try on (they showed it to me in the catalogue). So yesterday they gave me a buzz that it came in and I tried it on and the catalogue dress looked AWESOME. But I still really really loved my original dress so that is the one I went with. I feel so bridal in the one I ordered, its modern, yet traditional. I just can't describe it without giving it away!

olive oil
my skin has been so wacky lately and financially I just can't afford to buy product after product. So I have been seeking things in my house to clear up my skin, and help with my wrinkles (being in your 20's is such a bitch). Anyhow few months ago I started using honey and raw sugar on my face as a scrub. My face looked very luminous and i loved the results. Then I stopped doing that and all but forgot about it.
I read some blog about all of the positive attributes of olive oil for the face and it kind of clicked. For thousands of years people used olive oil for cleansing, and all of the really nice expensive face care products have olive oil in them so why not try it. So I will update you in a few weeks about how that is going. On a side note some girl on the blog shared her skin care daily routine and I nearly fell out after I read all this crap she does. Who on earth has time for all this?
Morning:
- wash with Cetaphil Anti-bacterial Soap
- Gently exfoliate with a synthetic (soft-bristle) facial brush from Walmart
- Rinse with cool water
- Moisturize with Kiss My Face Vitamin A&E lotion
Night:
- Apply extra virgin olive oil to face to melt away make up
- Wash with Cetaphil Anti-bacterial Soap
- Gently exfoliate with a synthetic (soft-bristle) facial brush from Walmart
- Rinse with cool water
- Gently exfoliate with baking soda, then rinse
- Apply ACV & water (1:1) to face, let dry 10 minutes then rinse with cool water
- Apply DDF 10% Glycolic Toner
- Spot treat with tea tree oil diluted with water (only do this occasionally on spots that won't go away)
- Moisturize with Kiss My Face Vitamin A&E lotion
Daily....
- 3000 mg's of B5
- 2 tbps of organic flax seed oil
- mulit-vitamin
- ortho-tricyclin
- bare minerals make up
- 8-10 glasses of water
- 5 cups of de-caf green tea
In all honesty I do almost all of this but it looks like alot when written down :P
