childhood celebrites

The celebrities that I thought were the "shiznit" as a kid! I was at one point or another obsessed with all of these!

Richard Geer - I still love him, what a man.

Leonardo Dicaprio- Titanic. nuff said.

Christina Aguilera- I ADORE her...big fan. I pretty much survived my entire teenage life with her music.

Mark Paul Gosselar- I've had a huge crush on him my entire life.

Aaron Carter- I was entirely too obsessed with him as a teenager...he is sooo not cute now!! its just not right.

Johnathon Taylor Thomas- I remember being crazy about him in kindergarten...

Shania Twain- I cannot stand her music now!

Celine Dion- I just don't know...I really can't listen to her anymore either

Fran Drescher- I always dreamed I would go on Opra and meet Fran. I identified with her nasal voice...haha. I also attribute my fashion sense to her...!

new years resolution

2011 is fast approaching and today I decided my resolution will to be to eat more fruits in place of junk food. My second resolution is to take time and breath every now and again. I know I seem like a laid back person but sometimes I am so on end I can't just relax and soak up what is going on around me. I really need to teach myself to do that this year because I have so many awesome things happening and I don't want them to all fly by before my eyes! So those are my resolutions, what are yours?

beauty blog

I figured I would give you an update on my olive oil skin care regimen. Well since this is only my 2nd week, so I am terribly reluctant to rant and rave over the olive oil right away but so far so good! As we all know throughout the month and every season our skin changes drastically so it is going to take a few months before I am really sold on this. So I have changed up what I am doing. I found that washing my skin with olive oil and then washing it off was really drying my skin out. The olive oil was clinging to my face oil and when I washed it off my face felt so dry. So I switched to washing my face with honey and using olive oil as the moisturizer at night and then during the day washing my face with olive oil and using regular face lotion as my moisturizer and spot moisturize with olive oil (mainly under my nose cause its so dry there). I have also used the same foundation everyday, which doesn't sound like a hard task but I switch between about 5. I have read that it is a good idea to not constantly switch your makeup as that could cause breakouts. I have yet to really see the logic behind that but I am trying it out. I also switched to a MAC powder foundation which is MUCH lighter than the MAC cream foundation I was using.

Old Regimen:
wash with cetaphil
moisturize with clinique
spot treat with clean and clear or burts bees

New Regimen:
heat honey in microwave for 6 seconds. smear on face and leave on for 20 minutes
moisturize with olive oil and leave it on. also smear in hair just for the hell of it haha
spot treat with a mixture of salt and water and leave salt on skin and dab with honey

Ok enough about my skin- seriously you would think I look like a freakin leper by reading this...

My second beauty rave is about this new lipstick I got. In fact I drove allll the way to bury today to buy it because I've been feaning for a new mac shade. seriously i have an illness. Anyhow, I love a great shade of red lipstick. I have in fact become one of those people who wears red lipstick during the daytime but I realize that sometimes its just too much depending on what I am wearing. This shade of red is just perfect. It is a very natural red but still has some pop. It goes on so nice and smooth too. I definitely recommend it for women (or men...whatever floats your boat) with a pale skin tone. It is lovely.

Lastly, I have yet to post a pic of my new hair. IT IS SO SHORT!!! I am really in love with it. And I think Alex is too believe it or not. I was convinced he was a long hair man after this last hair cut but I think he genuinely is digging me with the short hair. I haven't posted a pic of my hair because I have been so sick and every pic I take I just look like death- so of course I am waiting till I am back to good health and you shall see :]

So to some this up, buy some olive oil and honey and with all the money you save on facial care buy a great shade of lipstick to show off your new lovely skin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rasc that little uptown cheapskate.

Today poor baby Rasc gets neutered. Sad day at my house for a few reasons- Rasc is the best dog I've ever had and I would be sooo upset if something happens to the little guy. Secondly, Rasc gets so nervous and I am truly the only person in the world that he feels safe around and I am worried once I take him to get his balls chopped he won't trust me :[. The fact of the matter is it must be done. It would be cruel to let Ruby have more puppies. Physically this has been a huge toll on her fragile little body.
Pray for baby Rasc.

Secondly, After Rasc comes back from ball surgery, I am going to bury to sell my clothes to uptown cheapskate. Its this new store in Salisbury and they sell secondhand clothes- my fav! I have taken my stuff there before and they give you alot. I am expecting to get atleast a $100 for the bag I am taking today. It has a $200 pair of true religion jeans in there that just don't fit anymore. Also bringing in some Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and pretty much my entire collection of Hollister. I can't stand Hollister's clothes! They are not made for a woman with a butt at all!! We actually studied them in one of my classes and their target age is like 12-20 or something ridiculous so thats another good reason to get rid of them haha. And lastly I am taking in five Vera Bradley bags that I bought cheap off ebay. I could probably sell them on ebay and get more but I like the instant cash factor at Uptown Cheapskate.

Well Have a lovely day!

PS. I AM DONE WITH ALL MY CLASSES AND EXAMMMMMMMS

ramblings

This has been such a weird week for me. I can't get over the fact I am done with school friday. Its just like, then what?! HIRE ME?! haha Well I do have a few prospects if nothing in my "field' (whatever the hell that is) doesn't line up. Nicole said she would hire me at her store if I feel like driving an hour...and Diane at Cato said if I didn't have a job by May I could potentially take a 2nd assistant position if hers leaves. I am worried about the Cato thing because I have been 2nd assistant there before and LOVED it. Like I would have stayed there for years if things lined up right. I got a good raise and was saving up tons of money. Definitely the most money I had ever had before. But, I really think I am worth more than a job at Cato.

When I first started college I was torn between fashion major and art. In the longrun I decided fashion would be more profitable and I was more passionate about that. Now in hindsight I wish I knew how much I loved housing and interior design. I totally would have picked something related to that- and my major actually does cover housing so I guess It wasn't a total loss. My degree is actually in "human ecology" those 2 words leave alot of room for guessing haha. Anyhow, quite frankly I don't even know what I am rambling about- I think my cold medicine is getting to me. Ok have a great day!

ah damn

I've been sick and haven't slept in 2 days! Its such a catch twenty two because I haven't been able to sleep because Im up every hour having to pee and im up every hour having to pee because I drink so much tea throughout the day trying to get rid of my sore throat! I went to walmart last night looking for some therapeutic bubble bath to help with my cold and I ran across this stuff that proved to be quite wonderful.

It was very foamy and smell fantastic. It has Eucalyptus, rosehips, and chamomile. Anyhow It is comparable to the line of therapeutic stuff at bath and body works and this bottle was only 5 bucks. Much better price than bath and body works.

Anyhow pray for me I am hoping to be better before my graduation and celebration festivities :]

me me me

This whole blog thing is silly because I feel like all I ever do is talk about myself but....oh well.

Well I haven't had my hair cut in 2 months and people with short hair know that is kind of a long time. It is starting to get blah, flat, unbouncy, and just not doing what I NEED it to do. I have been thinking I was going to grow my hair out for the wedding and have ultimately decided against that. I am going to grow out my bangs-They pretty much became side bangs about a month ago so thats done haha. Anyhow I am really tired of having long hair (fascinating I cut it in August and I am still SICK thinking about it being long again haha) So tomorrow I am getting a new hairdo. Anybody that knows me knows that I love re-inventing myself so this new hair every 2 months is pretty fun. I am also contemplating getting it dyed before I go to vegas. I am going to give it some more thought after I have this haircut.

Today mom and I traveled to where she was born and grew up, Ridgely, Fetherlsburg, and Denton Maryland. She lived in ridgely but had family throughout the other towns. I haven't been there since my mommom died when I was 13- so its been about 10 years. I drove and memory led me all throughout the towns. We stopped where my great great aunt and uncle were burried and put a christmas wreath on their grave. I never remember meeting them but mom talks so fondly of them both, it makes me wish I knew them too. We also stopped where my mommom, poppop, and aunt Elsie are burried. I really wish I could have known them more too. I am so jealous of people with grandparents that they get to know really well. Anyhow a good day was had and we found a 1938 fiestaware utility tray which is something I didn't have. OH I brought my fiestware book with me and in the book it was apraised at 42.00 and the owner had it marked as 65.00. We asked if they would match the book price and they did! Pays to be a smart antiquer.

graduation, olive oil, wedding dress.

Well I graduate next week in about 9 days. I have never had so many mixed emotions about any single event like I have graduating. Some days I am really exuberant and happy. Some days I am really proud of myself and weepy that I actually did it (which I really didn't think I would). Some days I am sad and never want school to end. Some days I am all three of these and in the same car ride I will be giddy and happy then turn to gloomy and sad haha. I am really going to miss school. I love my teachers, I love all the crazy people I met in the past five years, I love the campus. And I hate people who are negative about UMES...If you don't like it transfer, if you don't go there then you have no reason to hate it!!!

So a few days ago I told you that I was going to switch to olive oil and forgo all of my face washes, lotions, and EVERYTHING. Well I have. I haven't touched any face wash, face scrub, astringent, or moisturizer, I even gave up foundation and just used concealer. My face is looking 100 percent better. I can't believe slathering oil on my face has cleared up my oily skin but it did, and it made my dry skin moister. Skin really does change. When I was 12 I started using Oxyclean. I swore by that for atleast 5 years and then all of a sudden it stopped working. Then I switched to Cetaphil which was amazing up until here recently. I guess my face has gone through another transition. Plus, I actually look forward to washing my face with olive oil. It is actually kind of fun haha.

Lastly, I ordered my wedding dress yesterday! So here is the story. Last monday when I went and tried on wedding dresses I fell in love with this one dress. I didn't decide on it right away because there was a dress coming in that I still wanted to try on (they showed it to me in the catalogue). So yesterday they gave me a buzz that it came in and I tried it on and the catalogue dress looked AWESOME. But I still really really loved my original dress so that is the one I went with. I feel so bridal in the one I ordered, its modern, yet traditional. I just can't describe it without giving it away!

olive oil

my skin has been so wacky lately and financially I just can't afford to buy product after product. So I have been seeking things in my house to clear up my skin, and help with my wrinkles (being in your 20's is such a bitch). Anyhow few months ago I started using honey and raw sugar on my face as a scrub. My face looked very luminous and i loved the results. Then I stopped doing that and all but forgot about it.

I read some blog about all of the positive attributes of olive oil for the face and it kind of clicked. For thousands of years people used olive oil for cleansing, and all of the really nice expensive face care products have olive oil in them so why not try it. So I will update you in a few weeks about how that is going. On a side note some girl on the blog shared her skin care daily routine and I nearly fell out after I read all this crap she does. Who on earth has time for all this?

Morning:
- wash with Cetaphil Anti-bacterial Soap
- Gently exfoliate with a synthetic (soft-bristle) facial brush from Walmart
- Rinse with cool water
- Moisturize with Kiss My Face Vitamin A&E lotion

Night:
- Apply extra virgin olive oil to face to melt away make up
- Wash with Cetaphil Anti-bacterial Soap
- Gently exfoliate with a synthetic (soft-bristle) facial brush from Walmart
- Rinse with cool water
- Gently exfoliate with baking soda, then rinse
- Apply ACV & water (1:1) to face, let dry 10 minutes then rinse with cool water
- Apply DDF 10% Glycolic Toner
- Spot treat with tea tree oil diluted with water (only do this occasionally on spots that won't go away)
- Moisturize with Kiss My Face Vitamin A&E lotion

Daily....
- 3000 mg's of B5
- 2 tbps of organic flax seed oil
- mulit-vitamin
- ortho-tricyclin
- bare minerals make up
- 8-10 glasses of water
- 5 cups of de-caf green tea

In all honesty I do almost all of this but it looks like alot when written down :P

dresses part 2

On Monday Jess and I went to try on dresses and we found my dress, the bridesmaid dresses, and the flower girl dress. They all match PERFECTLY. I still have one more bridal gown I want to try on just because I really like it in the catalogue, but if that doesn't work than I am buying the one I fell in love with Monday. So it was that easy....I can't believe how easy wedding planning is. If I knew it was this easy I would have had a shorter engagement haha.

So I know what your thinking...you want some details right?

Well my dress is still a secret. But the bridesmaid dresses, well they are a seacret too :] Come to the wedding and you will find out!!!!

dresses

I am beginning to feel like I just want to be married already. Which is sad because I haven't done the most fun part yet- DRESS SHOPPING! I have waited the last 23 years to pick out a wedding dress and its time to form some serious enthusiasm about it haha.

So what do I imagine my wedding dress to look like?
couture, chic, funky, different, non-traditional, maybe even a color other than white. I checked out Scher's the other day because Alex had to stop in to get fitted for a tux for another wedding he is in and I was browsing through the dresses. I actually saw quite a few I really liked. There were some traditional ones i liked and quite a few funky ones also.

orrr

sexy and simple with fabulous accesories!

And of course I am topping the dress off with Betsey Johnson shoes because she MUST make an appearance on the big day. She is a huge part of who I am and it wouldn't be a wedding without her on my feet.

So wish me luck while I shop on Monday :D

Thanksgiving 2010

My Thanksgiving Plans This Year:
First Alex and I are going to wake up and make sweet potato casserole. Then we are going to moms for lunch and my uncle Phillip comes over. Then that night we are going back over to moms for another dinner because my sister and niece and nephew are coming. Then that night we may look at Christmas lights or something of the sort.

My Favorite Thanksgiving:
All of the Thanksgivings when my grandparents were still alive. Last Thanksgiving we had at Alex's house. Alex and I worked really hard to decorate and we cut a tree out of the backyard :] Then his family came and brought dinner and we were all snuggled around the woodstove. I felt like we were in the 1800's haha.

My Signature Thanksgiving Dish
I don't have one yet. I am making sweet potato casserole this year though!

My Favorite Thanksgiving Food:
mashed potatoes

Thanksgiving (Free Association)
turkey

Thanksgiving Is....
a time to sit around, eat, relax and think about what we are thankful for.

I am Thankful For...
family, friends, pets, alex. my car.

antique booth

Tonight mom and I went to Third Friday in Salisbury and we went to visit Anne. She was telling me that she has a booth down at Season's Best Antiques and suggested to me that I rent a booth. She said that and it clicked in my head...a booth was EXACTLY what I needed to fulfill this void of wanting to sell my stuff but not knowing how. So mom and I went down there and asked about it and the manager showed us all of the booths available. The question was whether I wanted to start this immediately or wait until I get back from vacation in January.

I feel like I want to go to some auctions, paint some furniture, and really collect good things to make this a quality venture and make it worth my money. If the booth is gone then I will go to Berlin and rent a booth at the antique store there which seems to always have an empty booth or two.

Since I got home about an hour ago I have already made a pile of stuff that I want to put in my booth :] This is going to be so fun and give me an excuse to shop constantly (like I needed one before). Anyhow, a billion thanks to Anne and all of her ingenious ideas and believing in lil ol' me :]

coffee

A bag of this Dunkin Donuts coffee costs 8 bucks at walmart. It lasts for about 3 to 4 weeks (depending on how strong you like your coffee). That is also equivalent to roughly 2 or 3 cups everyday (I have a small coffee maker). Just think about how much money you save by buying this! At first I was hesitant to spend the extra money on this bag but it has really proved to be a good investment for a months worth of happy mornings haha. Plus they have the holiday flavors out- its nearly impossible to choose. I have had the cinnamon spice (which was amazing, and may be out year round). I also tried the pumpkin flavored which is good but I still like the cinnamon stuff.

wedding

In the beginning of the month mom and I seriously got alot of wedding planning done. First stop was the caterer who is also making the cake. here is the menu:

appetizers:
artichoke dip with french bread croutons
sweet potato and ham biscuits
sliced beef tenderloin crostini with pesto mayonnaise
cheese and fruit table

dinner:
caesar salad
crab cake
bow tie pasta with grilled chicken and basil cream sauce
roasted new potatoes
green beans
rolls and butter

drinks:
wine
beer
cosmopolitans
pink lemonade
tea

cake:
bottom layer is white with black stripes
middle layer is white with black polka dots
top layer is white quilted pattern with pink jewels
cake topper is a bow made of fondant icing
around the bottom of the cake is pink icing flowers

I am so excited about the cake. It is very me and exactly what I wanted (because I designed it haha).

The next stop was to go and rent the tables, chairs, linens, tent, dance floor, knives, forks, spoons, glasses, china, etc...

So $20,000 later this wedding will be the wedding of my dreams with the man of my dreams :]

Next step is finding a florist in Berlin! Crazy how fast time is flying. When we first got engaged it seemed forever away and now its less than 10 months. In the wedding world 10 months is not very long at all. Everywhere I go people tell me that I am lucky to have reserved the day because September is such a popular month to get married, which I surely wasn't aware of. Anyhow I hope you have a wonderful day, and thanks for reading!

countdown, bad day, puppies!

countdowns. I have been counting down till EVERYTHING. It is almost obsessive but kind of keeps me going on days like today.
5 days till I visit Jackie
9 days till Thanksgiving
1 month and 1 day till Graduation
39 days till Christmas
49 days till Las Vegas

Ok back to my day that was horrible. Woke up at 3am. Stayed up and cooked breakfast. Went back to bed about 6am. Woke back up at 7am. Had a terrible allergy issue and had to change my outfit twice before I ever got to school because I kept sneezing all over my self!! The first outfit was a new shirt I never had wore so that kind of pissed me off haha. Went to school and we had a lecture on death and dying (nough said). Then went to go to my visual merchandising class and low and behold the project that my group had been working on for a week (and 10 hours yesterday) had fell apart to the ground. I was terribly embarrassed. I was pretty glad to get home let me tell you.

I just realized that I haven't blogged about Ruby giving BIRTH! She had 4 puppies on Halloween. One puppy died so we are left with 3. Yesterday some of them began opening their eyes. They are ridiculously cute and I think I might keep the one with a diamond shape on her head :] I want to name her Jewel.

I have to go study for business law now- have a great night/day!

ahhh sweet friday

It is a friday morning and Im listening to some Bob Marley which typically is very summery music to me, but I am imagining haha. This weekend the Halloween festivities take place. Tonight Jess is coming over and we are trying on our costumes.... Then tomorrow night we are heading to Seacrets. We also went there last year and had a great time...It is so fun to see all the wacky costumes. When we went last year we were expecting everyone to be slutting it up and we walk in and Jessica and I were practically naked compared to everyone else...We had fun though. And I really don't think our costumes were that revealing its just that everyone else was in full costume head to toe haha. Anyhow have a great halloweenie weekend!

its a beautiful morninggg

Hello. I woke up feeling terribly gross this morning and decided it was too nice of a day to already be in a bad mood. So I am going to list the positive things about today.

-had my first cup of coffee since Friday. It nearly killed me to go all weekend without one but I survived.
-today is one day closer to one of the most fun holidays, Halloween!
-my daily affirmation today was "because Im worth it!"
-I am going to order my cap and gown today!!!
-its Monday morning and my house is clean. Thanks to Alex who kept everything clean while I was visiting Jess.
-Ruby has taken quite well to using her steps to get in and out of my bed (will post pics soon haha)
-going to give another presentation about my internship. This isn't exactly good news but it is one thing to cross off of my to do list for the semester.
-Jess comes home this weekend
-yesterday was the 11 month countdown till our wedding. so now its officially less than 11 months :P
-booking our hotel for Vegas this week.

Have a lovely day!

a few things...

I am thinking of either having blogs or a facebook album that shows "Goodwill finds". I have found some awesome things at Goodwill and I think it would be cool to bring awareness to my favorite store! I am convinced that anyone who goes in there and finds just one thing that they get really excited about, have been looking for, or collect will be as addicted as I am. Thats just a thought that I will give some more consideration too.

I contacted Watermen's Inn about catering the wedding and luckily they still have that day open! So I am going to meet with them in the beginning of November. After that is finalized I need to figure up a seating chart and figure out how many tables, chairs, and everything that we need to rent. After that stuff is done I will feel like I have done TONS. Everything else after that is gravy!

have an awesome weekend.

Saturday, October 16, 2010

well hello there

I haven't blogged in a while and this morning seems like a good time to do it! First of all Ruby is pregnant and going to have puppies! She should start having the puppies in about 3 weeks. I am very nervous and excited for her. I hope nothing goes wrong cause we already decided we are not taking her to the vet for them to deliver the puppies. Everything I've read online says to, but everyone I have talked to in person has said the dog can have the puppies because its a part of their nature. I am going to make sure I am home all the time when she is due to have the puppies. I don't want her to do that alone just incase something does go wrong. I have read about what my role is and it sounds like i will have to pull the placenta off of the puppies when they come out so that way they can get their first breath of air. (the mother can do that but it takes alot of work for her cause she doesn't have hands haha). And just be there to help clean the puppies off and if a puppy gets stuck i can help pull the puppy out. I think I can handle it, I have to be strong for my little best friend.

Alex bought our tickets to Vegas!!!!!!!!!! I am beyond excited. He is in a wedding on January 6th in Vegas so we are going on the 4th, sightseeing on the 5th, wedding on the 6th, and on the 7th we are somehow going to California to see Alex's family for the first time since April! We both miss them alot so that will be fun. We haven't bought our tickets home yet because we haven't figured out how long we want to stay. We will probably be there 2-3 weeks. Originally we were going to go later in January so that way we could stay for my birthday but the wedding through that off a bit. Oh well I wouldn't mind spending my birthday with my mom or with Jess :] Here is things I want to do while I'm in California:

-see as many Betsey Johnson stores as possible because there are shit tons of them over there according to her map.
-thrift shop for goodies
-tan
-stick my toes in the pacific
-i really really really want to see the golden gate bridge but alex says thats impossible and we would have to fly to it because its far away. i really wanted to have a moment like in full house where danny, joey, jessie, michelle, stephanie, and dj go over the bridge listening to music...whatever haha.
-walk down Rodeo drive! i think thats in LA...
-go to Hollywood
-see those trees that are older than dirt and were in the Bible...can't think of what they are called...Joshua Trees! yes those.

So thats what I could think of off of the top of my head. As soon as I get my luggage back from Dale and Carminda who borrowed it I am going to begin packing. bahaha.

Lets see here what else is new...Oh yes, Alex bought $600 worth of pots and pans (that equalled to a skillet and a pot!) We were invited to go to a Simplicity Gourmet show and if we sat through the 90 minute presentation we got a 3 day, 2 night stay in a huge choice of locations both in and out of the country. So before we went it I said, "Ok Alex we are not buying anything and if they ask for money we are just leaving. I am not getting conned into this trip." So right off the bat they went around the room and asked how many times a week each couple ate out. Some couples said everyday, some said 5 days a week, some said 3 and to myself I was thinking, "I cook all the time so we definitely don't apply to this first point the guy was making" Then it came to us and Alex said, "Oh we eat out as much as the rest of everyone" I am pretty sure that I gave him a look of fuck you in the the least confrontational way I could haha. I cook all the damn time! I make about 8 meals a week including lunch and dinner. We eat out sometimes none, sometimes twice, sometimes three times but not every week! I was so mad. It made me upset because I felt like he doesn't acknowledge everything I do for him. Anyhow, they did the presentation and Alex was obsessed with this cookware. I was moderately impressed. This cookware was cool but I really felt like anybody who knows anything about cooking wouldn't have been that impressed. So Alex wanted to buy the $4000 package and I said No, and I said no to the $3000, $2000 and $1000. I told him if he wanted to buy one or two pieces that would be ok but I wasn't paying for it. So the cookware should be here in 2 weeks and he will be paying 25 dollars a month for years to come on this damn stainless steel cookware that isn't nearly as great as my Mommom's pots and pans that she used the last 30 years of her life and that I have now inherited. Afterwards he admitted that he wished he listened to me, but whatever thats his first lesson of Jamie is always right. :]

School is going so well! I am acing everything in all of my classes, Im sucking up daily to all of my teachers and I am set to graduate December 17th. This is so cool because the past 4 years I don't know how many essays I have had to write about my 5, 10, and 15 year goals. And this year I will FINALLY complete goal number 1- Graduate College!!!! I am having as many people that I can think of to invite that night for a graduation party, so mark your calender "jamie finally graduates- time to partay"

- Kotex femine products. Ok this might be a bit wierd but they actually almost make having a period fun haha. look at these colors!!!

-Apples. Apples are a superfood. An apple a day keeps the doctor away! My favorites are gala.

-leopard clothing. I always love leopard clothes but lately I have found a ton of cute things so It has become a new love all over again haha.

-owl decorations, jewelry, etc...

6:51 am

Yesterday began the ONE YEAR COUNTDOWN. I have to admit I feel so stressed out already over this wedding. I feel like I have alot to do and I keep putting things off. I have been meaning to call the caterer now for weeks, in fact I decided it was time I made mom in charge of that step since she said food was the most important part for her haha. I really can't do anything until I meet with the caterer. After I meet with them I will know if I need to rent dishes, silverware or if they provide them. After I get that over with then I can call Parties etc about renting the tent, dancefloor, tables, chairs, linens, etc... That sentence right there just gave me a headache.

So in the past month I have been working out while I watch two and a half men everynight. I figure two and half men is a priority in my book so its the perfect time to excercise. I do a multitude of things and I have no pattern to it. I do like 50 crunches, then squats, then i ride an imaginary bicycle on my back (my favorite because it feels like childsplay compared to the rest haha), then I do some air punches which helps with my arm flab, then some leg kicks. Ever since Jess told me about her belly dancing I do some wild swingy hip moves too. I look absolutely ridiculous and when Alex is here I lock myself in my room. This morning I woke up at 5:30 and went running. I ran into a fox and it scared the hell out of me so I might start switching to early morning biking (easier to escape wild animals).

School is going great. All my classes are so easy. I have gotten an A or B on everything I've done so far. I wish getting a masters wasn't so hard and time consuming because I would do it if I could skip out on the real world for another 2 years but alas, its time Jamie gets a jjjob. geez almost couldn't say it.

cleaning

I have been doing some facebook cleaning lately. I deleted over 100 people in the past 2 weeks...It's not because I didn't like them I just don't see the need to be friends with so many people who I don't talk to and who don't talk to me. Half of those people if I ran into in public I would try to avoid anyhow!!! I feel kind of refreshed honestly. I have been doing that with the wedding guest list as well haha. its going to be down to the bridal party and our parents before its all over with! hehe JUST KIDDING. There was just some people on there that I was really close with and now I am not so it would seem silly to invite them to the wedding, they just came to my head when i was jotting down names at first.

ANYHOW,

This has been a long week. There are so many exciting things to look forward to so I think I will name them :]

-tomorrow I am hanging out with Nicole and Amanda!

-october 3 is the celtic festival!!!
-october 8 I am going to visit Jess and hopefully see Jackie too!

thats my short term list of exciting things going on :]

-december 17 I graduate and get new bling!!!

epiphany

Today I had an epiphany but first I need to tell my struggle for my epiphany to make sense.

So, as you probably know I am in the very long process of becoming Catholic. It has been VERY hard for me so far. It has been intimidating, and Alex hasn't been behind me 100%, I have had a hard time reading the material because it is so many new concepts and words I don't understand, praying has been nearly impossible because I can't concentrate, and I have been in the worst mood imaginable for the last month. All summer Alex and I were doing a pretty good job regularly going to mass and all of a sudden we haven't been in weeks.

As a part of the process we have to attend mass and be apart of "rites", we get blessed and Father Porter anoints us with oil. Tonight I asked why it is oil instead of holy water and she told us that oil is a sign of strength. Ancients Romans covered their bodies in oil during battles so that nobody could get a hold of them because they would be so slick (haha). Oil also has several other meanings but I can't remember them all. The symbolization of the oil is that it protects us from Satan as we are entering this process. (the oil has been anointed also, its not just olive oil :P)

That really makes alot of sense to me, and it also makes sense as to why there have been so many obstacles in my way to trying to get myself together and have a spiritual life. And that is my epiphany, it will be nice when I feel God more than Satan because lately I feel like I have an evil cloud surrounding me.

ahhh i can make it, i can do it, i will graduate!!!!!!! i hate school :[

ipod shuffle

first ten songs that came up when i pressed shuffle on my ipod:

days go by. lifehouse (never listen to this)

so beautiful. Darren Hayes (no clue who he is)

hoedown throwdown. Miley Cyrus (ok she is good haha)

american idiot. Greenday (Greenday is ok I guess)

beautiful disaster. Kelly Clarkson (This was a great cd but I never listen to it anymore)

happy? Mudvayne (no clue)

my worst fear. Rascal Flatts (ew hate them!)

there's a wall. Miranda Lambert (ehhh, she was ok)

love is looking for you. Miranda Lambert (ok my shuffle sucks)

you get me. Michelle Branch (i listened to her in the 9th grade alot)

This was lame. I hardly ever actually listen to any of these people haha.

ok your turn!

hello there Autumn. I love you.

Today I decorated my house for fall therefore, Happy fall! My pumpkin should be ready to pick in a few weeks so I can't wait for that :] I love love love fall. Now it is especially exciting because the 1 year countdown is fast approaching!

Alex and I have been trying to decide on a color to paint my room. After the pink is gone I think it will officially be "our" room. I am hoping he can paint it this winter because during the summer he is too busy with work and then next fall we will be too busy finalizing the wedding planning. So here is the color schemes I have been debating between. The only color he did not want me to paint it is yellow so I have free reign.

-Of course yellow was my first choice so I have to cross that off haha.

-teal with a purple ceiling (the same color purple that is in my bedroom and on my dressers)

-a warm plum. downfall of this is that I would have to re-paint the bathroom because it would clash

-red. may be too harsh and woudln't match a thing i currently own

-a soft periwinkle blue. love this color may give more thought to that. would have to re-paint my bathroom as well

Right now the teal is our first choice. We both love the vibrant color and it would look great with all the purple stuff I have.

On Saturday mom and I went to "The Perfect Dress" in downtown Salisbury and we found a bridesmaid dress that we both loved. We were most in love with the color. So glad this company has the exact color I wanted. It is a dark pink. PERFECT for fall. I am so excited. I really can't wait. 1 year 9 days

sad day

My heart is so heavy today for many reasons.

I write in this blog for many reason's and now I think I need to vent. I will try to keep this story vague because frankly I don't know all the details. A friend of mine called me at 7am and told me that my ex killed someone last night. It was not pre conceived but non the less he took someone's life and it could have been prevented.

I feel so sad that an innocent life was taken, I feel sad for my classmate who lost a brother, I feel sad for his family, and all of his friends. I just feel sad.

Something that also makes me sad is that my ex will never change. He was always selfish. He didn't care who he hurt, as long as things went HIS way. He stole everything he could possibly could from me, his parents, friends, etc... and now he robbed someone of their life. And to those of you who told me that he has "changed" I hate to tell you but he fooled you once, don't let him fool you again.

HELLO

Yes, I AM still alive! I have not made blogging a priority lately and that needs to change! Ok here is the quick rundown on how life is these days:

School: It looks to be a promising semester. My classes are easy, my teachers are hysterical, and I am hoping for the best. Here is what I am taking
Business Law
Small Business Mgmt and Entrepreneurship
Technical Writing
Women's Health (might as well just call this Being a Feminist 101)
Visual Merchandising (fun!)
Post Internship

Catholic Classes: It is going pretty well. I have alot of homework and reading to do for it. I find I spend more time studying for it than I am spending on my school work! Although it is going well I am still unsure if I am going to become Catholic- I think I may be a little to...."loose" to actually become Catholic. But I am enjoying the classes and maybe I will end up feeling like I am a good fit for the church.

Wedding planning: Haven't done anything! But once I am settled in school I have a huge list of things to begin. joy haha

Speaking of wedding's...last weekend I went to New Bern, North Carolina for Ben and Carrie's wedding. That was such a fun wedding! I had a great time and want to go back. New Bern was the cutest town, the hotel was very nice, the wedding was beautiful and long haha, and the reception was AWESOME. Open Bar (I tested every flavor of wine), smith island cake, the most tender piece of meat I had ever tasted, awesome music, and a good time had by all. I would literally re-do that night once a week if I could! I was also in great company which never hurts anything :]

Haircut- Ok, I know its been over a month since I cut it but everybody is still talking about it and I think its ok to profess again how much I love it! I keep learning new ways to style it. Today I took the blowdryer and had it on MAX and then sprayed the hairspray on the hair that was standing up. IT was so cool! This is the first time I have ever had a hair do that actually had "style" to it. Its fun and I am so glad I did it!

Have an awesome day to all who read this :D

first last day

Today mom and I went "back to school shopping" for the last time...ever...atleast for myself anyway. What did I buy? The most essential thing for any student-new underwear. I also bought aerosol hairspray and mousse. I feel like Fonzie from Happy Days haha. I also have my "first day of school outfit" layed out. I will never change. I am wearing a black striped skirt, a black skirt, with a coardinating belt, comfy shoes, and my Betsey Johnson lips necklace. I am sure I will have a picture on facebook of this monumental day- my first last day of school!!!!!!!!!!!!!

goodbye summer!

my to do list for this week:

-buy books for school
-buy parking pass
-pack for north carolina
-clean rabbit cage
-turn in internship report
-turn in application for graduation
-study RCIA pamplets

AHHHHHHHHHH that list stresses me out

Monday I start school, as you probably figured by my "to do list". Then on Tuesday night Catholic Classes start. Then the next few days will be devoted to getting ready for the trip to North Carolina.

I think I am excited almost about school starting. I miss seeing my teachers and having a reason to get dressed up everyday. I do not miss the mile long list of homework but thats Ok. This will be a very weird semester since it will be my last!

One of my September goals is to meet with the caterer and hear the menu options and how much it will cost per person. I think that is the only area that I am really unsure how much it will cost. I have decided that I would like to have a sit down meal. It might not be lobster and steak but I would like something nice. At gabis wedding she had bruschetta stuffed chicken and it was awesome! The food at that wedding was so good and I want people to enjoy the food at mine too. The caterer is also going to make my cake so that will actually be a huge check off of my list.

Friday was my last day at Parker Place :[ I had such a fun summer! I think I learned alot about what it would be like to have a small business and I made a friend in the process!

new car

Today I found out I am getting a new car! Immediately this neon blue beauty came to mind. I have been drooling over this car for months now. I also really like black Mustangs. We are going to go look tomorrow but that doesn't mean we will find one thats for sure. I am not even sure if the new Mustangs are out yet. Guess I will see. Ok I will keep you updated!

home in a kit

In the past two years I have discovered many new interests, hobbies, and passions. I have talked about many of them on here before, antiqueing, collecting fiesta ware, pyrex, vintage fashion, etc.. One interest I have yet to tell you all about is my interest in housing! I attribute my interest in housing to my soon to be degree in human ecology. I have had to take several classes talking about shelter, housing, and design and have throughly enjoyed it!

One area of housing that has really interested me is the "do it yourself kit homes". Many people have not heard of them and if you are one of those people, do it yourself kit homes is a house that was sold through catalogs in the early 20th century. Sears, Montgomery Ward, Alladin were a few of the companies that sold the houses. They were 30,000 piece kits delivered by railroad to the location and you were given a book on how to put it together! There were over 300 styles of these houses and there was even a school. The houses were very inexpensive ranging from $2 to $8 thousand. Many of these houses still exist today! We all ride by them everyday and often times people live in them and don't even know they are!!

Anyhow I would love to own one someday that is still very authentic with little to no serious modifications. My mom actually grew up in one and I remember going to visit my grandparents when I was little. I haven't seen that house since I was three but I remember every room and even where the furniture was located! The house was not built with indoor plumbing (but was later added) and they still had an outhouse in the backyard. I remember many meals in the kitchen, many times peeing my pants and mom having to wash them and hang them in front of the wood stove haha!, and many good memories there. I will never forget that house and that farm, and the people who made it a home.

serenity

serenity

When it is all too much to handle
and the whole world feels as though it may dismantle
I feel serenity in knowing I have you.

Your the wind in my sail
my hope when all else may fail
I feel safe in knowing I have you.

Your my love, hope, and heart
I hope we are never apart
I feel serene in being with you.

have I mentioned?

Today is Betsey Johnson's Birthday! Love that woman. I think in honor of her birthday, I will share where my love for her began. I was in the 10th grade and I was watching STYLE network (the only channel I watched!) and I saw this show where it focused on fashion designers that was given one shopping trip to make an outfit. Most designers would go to several stores and pick up things but Betsey bought a curtain, tank top, and several crafting items and made her outfit right there on the show. It was actually a really awesome outfit, and several times I have used that theory in coming up with my own outfit. When we get dressed, why does it necessarily have to be ready to wear clothing? Love your table cloth? WEAR it! Example of me wearing my scarf, that I used as a table cloth, as a shirt. haha did you catch that?!

Anyhow, also on the show they did a tour of her house. One thing that I really loved was she had curtains made out of vintage lingerie. So cute, so airy, so fashion forward. I of course had the urge to have lingerie hanging around my house so in my room I hooked about 30 of my wild bras together and hung them on the ceiling! That was over 3 years ago and it is still something people talk about.

Ever since that show I earned a great deal of respect for her and her work. I went to her first store when I was in the 10th grade and it was in D.C. (it is no longer there). After officially going in her store, and taking multiple pictures I knew she would forever be an inspiration to me and I never dreamed I would have quite the collection of Betsey that I have acquired today.

I LOVE YOU BETSEY JOHNSON! -Jamieliscious :]

updates

410 days until we get married! Geez I wish it would just get here already haha. I feel like I don't want to do too much planning until it atleast gets to the year mark. I am also beginning to wish I set the date later in Fall, of course then it may be too cold outside for a wedding. And later in fall wouldn't be the first time we told each other we loved one another..haha.

I have cleared the guest bedroom of the bed, but have yet to find an appropriate desk for storing my art supplies. I will keep looking and in the meantime Alex has the whole room for his drumset. I also feel like I want to paint the room. It has not been painted since the house was built almost 20 years ago. I would love to paint it yellow, if i do that is going to be a project for Alex to work on this fall, along with painting the shutters haha.

I have alot going on this week, I guess because summer is coming to an end and I am trying to finish up my to do list. Tomorrow Alex and I are going canoeing. Wednesday mom and I are going antique-ing all along route 50 clear to Easton. There are so many neat Antique stores that I never get to stop at because I am either in a rush to see Jess or with Alex who can only tolerate but so many of them! Thursday I am going to work at Parker Place and that night I gotta pack and then of course Friday I am leaving for Deep Creek Lake with Alex. Alex took off all three days which will be glorious because I NEVER see him yet I see him everyday, if that makes any sense.

Tomorrow is Betsey Johnson's 68th birthday! I love that woman. She is so inspiring and unique and makes me strive to be different from the rest.

liberated

Yesterday I went for a haircut and ended up donating 10 inches to Locks of Love. It was quite an emotional experience. I wasn't sad about getting rid of my hair but it made me happy that my hair might touch some child someday.

Overall, I love my hair. Its short, its spunky, its fun, its ME! I was beginning to feel like I was being defined by my hair. I felt like I was hiding behind it. Honestly, I was hiding behind it, its about time I start feeling good about who I am without hiding behind a mane of hair!

guest bedroom

I am all of a sudden feeling a void in my house. I have a livingroom, kitchen, dining room, laundry room, 2 bathrooms, bedroom, walk in closet, and 2 guest bedrooms. I am finding that 2 guest bedrooms are unnecesary! I rarely ever have guests anymore. I have decided that I am going to turn the smaller guest bedroom into a art/music room. Alex's drums are already in there so on the other side I am going to set up a desk, shelving unit, and make myself a cozy painting area. That way when I am in the middle of painting something I can just leave it there and come back whenever I have time, instead of stressing to get it done so it isn't cluttering up my kitchen table! Tomorrow evening I am getting rid of the full size bed and putting that up to the farm house. I think the room will feel alot bigger because the room is too small for a full size bed anyhow.

Well I just thought I would share my latest task. That room is also on my list of things to paint before the wedding. I want to pick a color that Alex likes since he spends alot of time in there and something that I like, and something the baby will like when its born. HEHE just kidding!

fall

Good Afternoon People! Today it is roughly 70 degrees out and feels slightly chilly and I LOVE IT!!! I am getting so excited about fall. Fall is when Alex gets less hours at Seacrets, and I get to go back to school and actually do something day to day, and on September 24th the official year countdown begins!

why

Lately i've been noticing a lot of things make me stop and think...WHY?!

Why do people go out to eat and let there phone ring? The other night I went out to eat and this family had atleast 5 phone calls and would answer them and talk loudly at the table. Its so rude!

Why are people always complaining about where they live, yet NEVER move!!! I feel like all my life i've heard people complain about the Eastern Shore yet here they still remain. Be happy with where you live or move so you don't have to make the rest of us miserable. yea im facebooking that haha.

Why on earth are there so many damn political signs up?! Its so annoying. I hate politics and have decided these signs have made politics so unappealing im not even voting this year. I don't give a flying crap who the hell is in office. NObody ever makes a difference anyhow.

So thats what I'm feeling. take it or leave it those are the things that make me go WHY?!!

Alex's Birthday

first of all, what do you think of the MASSIVE picture of myself? haha Its a nice touch I think.

Tomorrow is Alex's 25th birthday! Damn that sounds old. Glad I am a year and a half behind him. Well this birthday I have really struggled and had to be creative to try and make this day special for him. And I really did want it to be special since his family isn't here. I literally have no money because the grass is DEAD. It would figure the year that mom is paying me double what I made last year the grass has died and I haven't been able to cut it but maybe 5 times haha. So I got Alex a t-shirt that has sublime on it and something else. A shirt that he would actually wear in his favorite color, black. And I also painted him a red green yellow and black abstract acrylic on canvas. It is really cool, has a reggae look about it and I think it will be nice behind his drum set. Mom got him his favorite flavor of smith island cake and also crab legs to chow down on. Tonight after he left I began decorating the house with streamers and balloons but then it occured to me to decorate my bedroom! I figured in a smaller space it would have a bigger effect. Its going to be funny when he wakes up in the morning in a sea of streamers. I used 3 rolls on my small room. Its pretty awesome.

Also this week Alex and I bought a canoe! Ok he payed for the majority but I pitched in and paid for the front handle :P We have already been out on in twice and he just got it yesterday! Yesterday we went out on the Pocomoke river and today we went out in Stockton off of George Island Landing. We explored some marsh and then got down in the water and dug around for clams. We took home 17 clams and I steamed them when we got home.
