next 10 years

In school I feel like I am constantly asked to make a list of (career) goals I want to accomplish in the next 3, 5, and 10 years. So I thought why not make a list of fun goals to make for myself in the years to come.

3 year goals:
-expand my garden
-go to the Sex & the City tour in new york
-buy a few rose bushes
-finish Coco Chanel's biography
-go camping
-go to the top of the Washington Monument

5 year goals:
-own 365 pairs of underwear
-meet Betsey Johnson (when she visits Georgetown again)
-go to Disney World again

10 year goals:
-go to the statue of liberty
-maybe have a kid or two.

disclaimer: I do want to get married before I have kids but if I put a time limit on this I may screw myself in the end haha.

FRIDAYYYY

-spring break
-finishing my last spring semester of school EVER
-Amanda comes home next week I believe it is. or the week after. it doesn't matter which one because Ill be here either way!

vintage kitchen crack

Vintage kitchenware has become my newest passion over the last few years. How it began was when I moved into my Mommom's house I was cleaning out the cabinets. There was a collection of these four pink and orange bowls that I loved and decided to use as my everyday bowls. I came to find out that they were FireKing bowls that my mommom had gotten free from collecting stamps. So then I slowly began collecting other things to match these bowls and it turned into a huge hobby of mine. I have no idea what people are going to give me if I ever get married and have a wedding shower. I can't stand the idea of owning new kitchenware!!

-Pyrex bowls (this set looks amazing...mine are all beat up!)

-fireking (this comes in several colors...this person just has an obsession for jade apparently)

-old fiesta ware
I also collect this stainless steel silverware which was free when you bought Betty Crocker. My Mommom took years to collect it and I am still using it today. Every once in a while I will get lucky and find a new piece at Goodwill. I cant remember the name of the pattern but it has shooting stars on the handles.

This is one of those times where I am really starting to realize I am my moms clone.

Save the planet. Buy Used.

No doggy style happening at my house.

Ok so first of all I feel like I must give background info for this blog:
1. A dog can only get pregnant while she is in heat.
2. "Bitches" only go in heat about twice a year and stay in heat for roughly 2 weeks.
3. You really should not breed your dog until their 3rd heat because they are too young for the first 2 heats.

On that note. MY DOG IS IN HEAT and this is her 3rd heat!! Chihuahua's here we come!!!!!!!!

NOT.
My other chihuahua Rascal has no interest in her. I sat him down today and explained to him that I could really use an extra buck from there pups and that if he would knock her up I would be eternally thankful and I wouldn't yell as much when he pees on stuff. I do not think it helped because they are both asleep on opposite ends of the couch.

I was thinking that when she finally went in heat it would be ridiculous at my house. Chahwah sex in the kitchen, outside on every inch of the yard, moms house, my bed, their beds, in the bathroom, on the sofa, in the recliner, at the park, and everywhere else their little horny bodies could take them. Not so much.

I am going to look into doggy viagra and slip it in Rascal's kibbel.

(on a side note, my first chihuahua Doodle was so horny back in his day that we would have to give him medicine so he would stop humping everything!!)

mondayys are no fun days

actually I lied. i like mondays. So anyhow, I have decided to do my internship at this artique/artsy/garden center/ furniture / trash to treasure type of store this summer! I am very excited and I have all sorts of ideas to bring to this internship. The store owner was saying how she may not open the garden center this year and she said maybe that could be my project. I have already decided I am going to buy a bunch of herb seeds this year and start them out, then replant them in teacups, flower pots, little vases and whatever else can hold a plant. I am also going to expand my wild flower garden and pick a few bouquets of them every week and try to sell them. Anyhow I like things that can let my imagination run wild so this is the perfect fit for me.

ta ta fo now :]

hurray its friday

It just occured to me this morning that I am 3 weeks away from Spring Break. Alex and I are going camping, and while we are there we are going to Monticello (Thomas Jeffersons house), some vineyard near there, and Lurray Caverns. And in between there probably stop to see my sis. Whats funny is I am thinking about all the new clothes I need to buy to go camping. I am pathetic haha. I also just got encouraged by the fact that this semester is an incredibly hard one for me and it is almost half way over.

Yesterday I went to get a manicure with Nicole and Amanda. My nails are so pretty! They are hot pink and hot purple (every other nail a different color) and ontop of that is sparkles. They are very glamorous and Jamieliscious. Then we went to Ruby Tuesday for drinks and dinner. They have this drink called a Ruby Relaxer. Its really good. I cant go there and not get one.

And lastly, today I am going to visit my best friend! We have all sorts of fun stuff planned for the weekend. I am very excited about going to Forever 21 tomorrow. There is a huge one in Towson Mall and Jess and I are like kids in a candy store when we go there!

Have a great weekend everybody!!!

RIP Alexander McQueen

This week was New York's fashion week. Alexander McQueen also recently died so I feel it is fitting to share some of his works of art. I call his shoes art because they look miserable to actually wear.

I wanna say these shoes are inspired by the renaissance. Women used to wear ridiculously tall shoes to keep their elaborate dresses off of the streets...which were very nasty.
I actually love this shoe. This is probably the only one of these shoes I would actually attempt to wear!
These shoes are simliar to the shoes McQueen designed for Lady Gaga's music videos.

Anyhow, take some time to learn about him or google his fashion shows. They are definitely a must see.

traumatic afternoon

So at about 3pm I came home from my class and let the dogs out as usual. Ruby took off running as hard as she could towards the road and a truck was coming. I am literally screaming my head off RUBY RUBY STOOOOP. Next thing I know truck is going and Ruby is underneath of it. I fell to the ground on my knees and fell over. I literally had dirt stuck to my forehead.

I look up to see if she was alive and the truck was sitting there stopped and Ruby was underneath of it. I started running towards Ruby and she took off towards moms house. Mom came out to see what I was screaming over and Ruby took off in the house. By that point I was absolutely hysterical. Mom picked Ruby up and set her on the table and she was acting dizzy and kept holding up random paws. She would hold up her right paw, then switch to her left paw, then stick her back foot out as far as she could. I was not sure what was wrong with her.

I took Rascal back over to my house and grabbed my phone which i literally threw about 20 feet. I locked the door in anticipation of going to the vet. I went back over to moms house and she was feeling Ruby over. Ruby was acting her normal self now. I put her on the ground and she walked like she was drunk for a minute and then she seemed to go back to her normal self.
I feel so guilty :[ I don't even know what I would do without these dogs. They really are my best friends and I can't stand the thought of anything happening to them. I am going to feed Ruby and Rascal a generous helping of roast beef now.

Dogs!

These are my 5 favorite breed of dogs in order:

5. Shitzu. I used to have a Shitzu mix. He looked nothing like this dog but I think they are cute regardless.
4. This is a Pekingnese. I used to have a Pekingnese mix as well. She had an awesome personality. I lost her almost 10 years ago and I still get upset thinking about it.
3. This is an English Bulldog. They are too cute. These are Jessicas favorite :]
2. My second favorite breed of all time is Chihuahuas! Especially long haired chihuahuas like my beautiful dog as seen below :] Meet Ruby Barbara Alexander.
1. And my absolute all time favorite is Hairless Chinese Crested Dogs. They have the best personality. They are extremely loyal and friendly. They are perfect for people with pet allergies. They are easy to care for and are generally healthy. One stipulation is that the same gene that makes them hairless also makes their teeth fall out. They require a special diet.

random thoughts

Ok so I could not think of one thing to Blog about so I am going to write about all of my random thoughts from the day:

1. Today I had sushi at Shogun. It is on eastern shore drive (i think) in bury. They have sushi rolls 3 for 10$! such a good deal and they actually tasted great.

2. I just randomly looked at my quotes section on facebook and this is my last quote:
"Ass, grass, or cash nobody rides for free" This is really nice isn't it, and sounds just like me..haha not.

3. This weekend I am going to Baltimore to visit Jess! She won a happy hour at a piano bar. so her and her closest 100 friends are going :] or u know 10 of us.

4. Ruby's dead zhu zhu pet is driving me nuts. the damn thing still makes noise and she insists on having it right under her armpit wherever she rests. it won't shut up!

5. Alex tells me I make him feel "warm" inside. I think thats funny. He gives me warm fuzzies. I guess that is the same.

6. I have this blazer that I stuck my entire broach/pin collection on just because it is pretty to hang on the wall and display my pins. I probably have 20 to 30 pins on it. It just occurred to me I am screwed if I actually decide to wear this blazer.

7. Does anybody beside me watch "Two and a half men"? it is the best show on tv right now. so funny.

8. I have been fighting the urge for weeks not to buy the Flintstones Dvd box set. I love the flintstones so much!!!!

9. A few weeks ago I bought Viva La Juicy perfume by Juicy Couture. I got the big bottle of it at Marshalls for 50$. Killer deal. I was going to buy it in Macys for 100!! Anyhow I am addicted to this perfume. It is also very similar to my Betsey Johnson perfume.

10. I am really excited about Halloween. I realized today that if I am going to look good in this outfit I need to start working out..um..NOW. Its literally some exaggerated underwear.

Have a great night people.

Im a Barbie girl..IN A BARBIE WORLLLD.

Barbie and Teresa (Barbies best friend) her sash says "life in plastic, is fantastic" and mine says "come on barbie, lets go party" too cute. I had so much fun that night. I think we would literally go out to the bar dressed like that once a month!

I realized tonight I have a problem. I am becoming one of those freaks who collects Barbies and won't think of taking them out of the box. I literally had to restrain myself from buying one of the newest Barbies in the basic black label collection (as shown above). Why I love these Barbies is because they all have different hair cuts, different skin tones, and different style dresses. They just bring a sense of sophistication to a plain Barbie Doll. My absolute favorite one is the black barbie all the way to the right. She has the most beautiful dress. I also like the brunette in the middle with the cute short hair cut. I want them all! So i compromised and bought myself a barbie thermos and keychain. Speaking of black dresses...I counted and I have close to 30 little black dresses. I wear all of them but about 5! I also just realized this is my second post in a row about toys haha. I guess I am a kid at heart!

zhu zhu pets

Well as you all know I love rodents. My niece got a "zhu zhu pet" for valentines day. Its this little hamster that has a wheel on the bottom of him. you put him on the floor and he takes off really fast. He goes on the carpet, tile, hardwood floor, anything! They are so cute. I am definitely getting one for my dog. She will have a blast with this thing. Will probably keep her entertained for an hour!

You can buy your zhu zhu pet at Toys R Us, Walmart, Target or wherever cute fuzzies are sold :]

mushy gushy crap

I miss Alex so much! We have spent almost every night together for the past 3 weeks and last night I had to sleep alone and it sucked.

This may sound pathetic but I think humans are meant to be dependent on another person. Yea, independence is very important in some aspects, but when it comes right down to it we are all looking for somebody or something to fill that void.

I love Alex. He is everything I could want in a lover and then some. He might not be the most charismatic, or have very much money but he is sincere, sexy, smart, silly, honest, loyal, and mine. :]

disclaimer: I blame this sentiment on all the love crap the media shoves down our throats due to valentines day. :]

bikini shopping begins

I love this one. very girly. also comes in pink

I cant help but laugh at this. a topless bikini...PRACTICAL! no tan lines.

I tried this monokini on at marshalls and absolutely loved it. i didn't buy it though because when i leaned over my boobs were completely exposed! haha alex may like it but jess wouldn't appreciate that too much :]
I think this one is really cutesy. probably too cutesy for me.
this is my favorite style and of course i love leopard print. i love bandeau tops!
Im thinking with this one you actually need boobs for it to work...
I have a bikini just like this except mine is pink. i love it and would want another.

Atlantic City

Last Spring break I went to Atlantic City on a whim (decided the night before to pack my bags and go). I went with Jackie and Alex. Alex literally had 50 bucks in his pocket! haha. we stayed for 2 nights at the Showboat hotel. Spring break was during the week of St. Patricks Day so the night of St. Pattys Day we went to an Irish Pub called Irish Pub (how creative!). It was literally the most fun I have had in a bar maybe EVER haha. We had such a blast that we went back the second night as well :] It was like a trivia night at the bar so we won a ton of free stuff. While there we also went to The Pier which has upscale shops such as BETSEY JOHNSON and Juicy Couture my close second favorite. I had such a blast the whole time and I truly think it was my favorite 3 days of 2009 :] I would go back in a heartbeat. Oh plus I only gambled 1 dollar and it wasn't even of my own money :P you know how cheap I am!

Designer's Spotlight- Betsey Johnson

I was thinking it would be fun to pick a designer and talk about why I like them and a little of their history. So of course first I have picked Betsey Johnson (my role model :])

Betsey Johnson’s whimsical personality has shown through her wild and outrageous clothing for the last forty years. She does not go by the fashion rules but creates her own set of rules and that design philosophy has made her famous.

Guys Love BJ too.

Betsey and her daughter and grandaughter's at Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week.

Betsey Johnson was born August 10, 1942 in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Betsey began attending dance classes as young as four and when Betsey was in the third grade she discovered a love for drawing and crafts. Betsey’s dance teacher influenced her greatly by encouraging her to make her own dance costumes and that is where she began to design her clothing. After graduating high school in 1960, Betsey attended Pratt Institute in New York, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Syracuse University, which was also in New York. In 1964, she won a “Guest Editor Contest” put on by Mademoiselle Magazine, and also received a trip to London. At Mademoiselle, Betsey was the illustrator and only a year later she was the top designer for “Paraphernalia” which had the hippest clothing by London designers. In 1969 she opened up her first boutique called “Betsey Bunki Nini” in the upper east side of New York. In the 70’s she took over the label “Alley Cat” which was popularized by rock and roll musicians of the time. In 1978, she took a huge step and started her first fashion line with Chantel Bacon named “Betsey Johnson”, as we know it today.

Today Betsey has over forty-five stores worldwide as well as 1000 specialty and department stores. Her Clientele includes mostly women from the ages of 18 to early 40s and she also has a childrens line. In 2003, Betsey added shoes, leg wear, jeans, and lingerie, and in 2004 she added accessories, belts, handbags, wraps, scarves, hats, and ponchos. Betsey’s line is diverse from other designers because its not all about elegance, its about having fun, being feminine, and loving life.

Betsey presents her clothes in very unique ways. Her fashion shows are known for being outrageous. When the models walk the runway they look as though they are comfortable in what they are wearing and having a good time. In 2001 Betsey designed a line and named it “Betsey’s Closet”. All the clothes were things that she would wear and they all looked typically “Betsey”. In that show the models had extravagant makeup, funky hair extensions with bold highlights, and lightening bolt tattoos. It looked like a bunch of Betseys strutting down the runway. She always wants an element of surprise. Last year, Playboy bunnies modeled Betsey’s clothing, and before that biker chicks came out in her latest clothes. It is also a tradition for Betsey to do cartwheels down the runway at the end of each show.

Walking inside one of Betsey’s Boutiques is like walking into a clothing fairytale. The walls are funky colors like pinks, greens, silvers, and yellows, with her signature rose designs flourishing the walls. There are elaborate drapes cascading that make the clothes come alive. The first time I walked inside one of her stores I noticed that there was only one of each item. That is a great selling strategy because it makes each piece of clothing unique and all the more desirable. The tags on the clothing have snapshots of her with little notes that say, “have a nice day”, or other friendly phrases.

Betsey has earned many awards for her achievements. In 1972, Betsey was the youngest designer to win the Coty Award. In 1999, at the CFDA Awards Betsey won The Timeless Talent Award, which was made especially for her. Finally in 2002 Betsey was inducted into the Fashion Walk of Fame, which honored her contribution to the fashion society. In 2003, the bronze and granite plaque, which had her biography, signature, and sketch was placed on Seventh Avenue.

Betsey is a fashion icon to many people for more than just her creative fashions. Betsey is a breast cancer survivor and many people have been inspired by her bravery and vigor for life. She devotes much of her efforts to breast cancer fundraisers. The CFDA asked her to be a Honorary Chairperson for the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer in 2003. Also she teamed up with Geralyn Lucas the author of “Why I wore Lipstick…To My Mastectomy” to design a t-shirt for breast cancer awareness that was sold inside her boutiques.

In 2003 Betsey went on vacation to Mexico and bought a hotel which she named “Betseyville”. She also bought another villa and named it “Villa Betsey”. She has been using her vacation homes as inspiration for her future designs. I think she has earned some well deserved time off but there is absolutely no signs of her retiring anytime soon. Betsey said something that can pretty much sum up her entire love for fashion and what she does, “Making clothes involves what I like…color, pattern, shape and movement…I like the everyday process…the people, the pressure, the surprise of seeing the work come alive walking and dancing around on strangers. Like red lipstick on the mouth, my clothes wake up and brighten and bring the wearer to life…drawing attention to her beauty and specialness…her moods and movements…her dreams and fantasies.”

girly shoes

These shoes are by OKA. The green ones I wear in the spring/summer and the brown ones are my fall and winter pair. They are super girly and I always get so many compliments when I wear them. The fun part is you can change the bows. Neither one of these bows are the actual bows that came with the shoes. They are about 30 bucks, comfortable, and they clean easily!

Here is a much less practical shoe but my goodness it is adorable. I do not know who makes it but I feel like it would be really easy to replicate this with a pair of boring stilletos you already have. Go to Hancocks or another fabric store and look in the ribbon section for this ruffled trim. They usually sell it on bolts and you can buy it by the yard (which is easier than buying a bunch that you do not need). Then buy about a yard and a half of regular ribbon as well (to make the bow on the top of the strap). When you get home get out your glue gun and have at it! And when people compliment how awesome your shoes look you can say that you designed them yourself :]

ALSO if you have a little plain clutch you can sew a leftover piece of ruffled trim along the bottom.

hell has frozen over

well school closed today. I believe this is the second time they have closed since I started going there in 05. I am not complaining!

I have decided I like making lists.

Reasons why summer beats winter:

-slip n slide. i have the best slip n slide parties hands down :]
-the beach. although i rarely make it because slip n slide is easier
-cutting grass
-seacrets. seacrets rafts, seacrets beach, and nightclub. you can literally be there from 11am till 2am and not get bored :]
-house parties. especially at Wilson's house. that girl can throw a fun party.
-packing for vacation is easier because clothes take up less room
-Eliza B. Flip flops ( i will post a pic when i get a chance)
-crabs, sweet corn, and tomatoes
-having a garden
-fun music. listening to beach boys in December just depresses me
-being tan and getting natural highlights
-and my bestest friends Jess and Amanda come home quite often
-oh and i forgot to mention. daquaris

summer 2010 you can come anytime you like :]

supa bowl

Today is the day that I have waited 365 days for. Super Bowl.

Just kidding! I really could not care less about football. Although I do find football a very good excuse to drink a few beers and eat hot wings :]

For lack of things to say I think I will make a list of my favorite foods:

1. steamed lobster
2. fried green tomatoes
3. Sushi of all kinds
4. smoked salmon and creem cheese bagels with capers
5. baked chicken
6. olives and pickles
7. extra sharp cheese

my favorite alcoholic drinks:
1. pain in de ass (rum runner swirled with pina colada)
2. white zinfandel
3. mead (honey wine)
4. sangria with fresh fruit diced in it
5. frangelico
6. dirty bananas
7. buttery nipple shots

off to enjoy my wine and watch super bowl!

CHEERS.

good things are happening!

This weekend has been really unexpectedly great. Thursday another one of my dearest friends told me that Ruby and Rascal was published in a magazine she writes for! I was so excited. The article was on "Canine Couture" and since my dogs are the most fashionable pups around some of their pics was chose by the editor :]

Today I logged onto my email and I landed an interview with a company I wanted to intern at this summer!!! This company was the first place I had even submitted my resume at so it is very exciting.

My third thought for tonight is: weather like this is how babies are born. Snowed in and nothing to do.

insanity

The blizzard has made me do this! I am not really a blogger but who knows maybe I will become one. I am thinking that most anybody that reads this will already know me but I might as well give some background info anyhow. I am 23 and a senior in college. I major in human ecology with a concentration in fashion merchandising and a minor in business. I graduate in December and I literally feel like I have waited my whole life for that day. I think after that day I might just feel complete and you can put me out of my misery! haha just kidding :] I hope to someday have my own store full of antiques, junk, vintage clothing, basically anything I like. I am in NO WAY whatsoever a fashion designer and it really gets aggravating that people keep calling me that.
I have two dogs, which I am very passionate about :] Ruby Barbara Alexander is a purebred Black long haired chihuahua with a white left foot. She is absolutely adorable and bitchy. My other dog is a purebred white chihuahua with random brown spots. His name is Rascal Gonzales Alexander. I just adopted him back in September. I am hoping to breed them in the spring. I also have 2 chinchillas named Chinchie and Chewie and a mini lop eared rabbit named Thumper.

I love to garden, paint, clean, antique, shop, travel, eat, drink fruity drinks, and slip n slide! I think this pretty much sums up my life so I hope you enjoy my blogs :]
