church

Well here it is another Sunday morning I am not in church. It is Palm Sunday so of course I feel particularly guilty about it. I was thinking this morning why I don't go to church and here are my reasons:

1. I have no one to go with. This is a bs reason because I could very well go by myself but whatever.

2. I have no church to go too. I loved the first church mom and I went to, Cokesbury. I went every Sunday (give or take about 4 a year) for 13 years. I always looked forward to it. Then mom decided to go to a more religious church Holly Grove. Hated it! I never wanted to go, I hated to go, but I like the people there. Doesn't make sense. I haven't been in probably 4 years. Alex wants me to be Catholic but I told him I am not changing my religion until we went regularly. so that is where I stand on that. If he really wants me to be Catholic he will make an effort to go on Sunday mornings!

3. I feel like I am churched out. Let me tell you how much churching I did in highschool:

Church every Sunday
Worship every wednesday night, then youth group
every tuesday was chapel
everyday I had Bible class for 13 years!!!!
not to mention the 3 big trips the youth group would take every year which had 2 worship sessions per day. The trips were as long as 10 days or as short as 3. And I did not only go to my youth group trips, I also went to Nicoles.

God knows I love him, and I think I have done enough churching for a lifetime.

a few thoughts

-I clear the history on my computer about every 10 minutes. I live alone. who is going to look at it?! You would think i was a porn addict or something.

-Last week I was about to reverse out of my garage and Alex thought it would be funny to grab my boob and I put the car in DRIVE by accident and almost ran into my fucking living room. I am not sure how I would have explained that one to my mom.

-Last night I went to dinner at Carrabba's and a lady with her infant was at the table behind me. She ordered a cocktail and spilled it on herself and the baby. She was then pissed and left. I think she deserved it.

-My mom bought me stamps and they have wedding bands on them. she is so subtle.

-I tried on shorts from a few years ago and they literally looked like plaid underwear. obscene

have a great weekend people!

school school school

well now that i am off spring break i am completely consumed in classes. today i got my midterm grades:

Historic Costumes: B
Textiles II: A
Pre-Internship Seminar: A
Sociology of food, shelter, & clothing: B
Supervisory Management: C
Consumer Motivation: B

I am really upset over that C. I thought I was doing good in the class but apparently something is missing.
So the other day I went to talk to my advisor to plan graduation and I asked about my gpa in hopes to graduate with honors but I am not :[ I almost broke out in tears over it in her office...as I might right now. That semester that I quit half way through and didn't withdraw from my classes completely fucked me over. I was doing well before that. I had about a 2.9 or 3.0 average (which isn't good now, but was definitely good for me then). Anyhow I was thinking that I had really pulled my grades up enough but that semester that resulted in a 0.0 through it all off.

Regardless, I should just be happy I wasn't pulled from the University after that bad semester. The only thing that saved me was my good grades in previous years.

And lastly I am not attending honors convocation but if I get asked to join another fraternity or whatever I declined last year i am doing it this year no questions asked.

Sorry this is so boring but right now I eat, breathe, and sleep school

dog gone beautiful

I realized that this time next year I will be a graduate. So that kind of means I need to make a career decision.

so guys....I have thought long and hard about it and I know what I want to be...it is the same thing I wanted to do when I took a break from school.

I want to go to dog beauty school. I just can't decide if it is stupid to have a degree and then go and get a certificate and pursue that haha. I could make big bucks in the fashion industry but my heart does not lie in anything that makes big bucks...

Here are the things I have considered:
-Have a junk/art/cafe/antique store (I do not have the finances but this would be probably my ideal job)
and
-Dog grooming. I would start off in a place like Petsmart because they pay for you to get your liscense. Or I could go to this dog grooming school in Delaware for a few weeks. Eventually If I really decided that was for me I would like to buy a van and do door to door dog grooming!!! I think it is such a pain to load your big ass smelly golden retriever in the bmw/mercedes/other luxury non-dog friendly car and take them to the groomer then pick them up. But what if there was a service that could come to your door and wash them right in the driveway? I know they do this in more metropolitan areas but I have not heard of this service in Salisbury or Oc although I have a feeling somebody is doing this. I could even sell my home made dog bandanas and shirts!

Anyhow I really think dog grooming could pay the bills and be rewarding and fun.

I know you have probably been wondering what I have done with my spring break....so here is the day to day scoop!

friday-nicole came over
saturday-nothing
sunday-nothing
monday-manicure and visited Nicole
tuesday-Annapolis with Alex
wednesday-walked 3 miles with the dogs. Nik, Lauren, Lindsey, and some other various people came over for some St. Patty's Day festivities. I drank 4 pots of Irish Coffee. Never went to sleep that night for more than an hour consecutively and..
thursday-went to Rehobeth with mom!
friday- I plan to get the dogs a doghouse for their outdoor pen, and pick up sticks in the yard.
saturday- there is an auction at the civic center I want to go to
sunday- Lauren is in a play at Wor Wic so I am going to show some support :]

so this is my spring break in a nutshell. I have got some neat things shopping this week. A few of the highlights have been new descent shorts from Jcrew (all of my old shorts are so tiny they look like denim underwear). A Kate Spade wristlet, mac makeup, and a Ralph Lauren purple polo dress.

Tonight I am incredibly excited about crawling in bed since I didn't sleep last night! have a wonderful weekend people!

smokey blast eye shadow

-so do you need any new makeup? go to rite aid. They are seriously overpriced but they have this great buy one get one free sale. I went in there to buy this new eyeshadow by covergirl called "smokey blast eye duo" and they had it and it was buy one get one free! So I got two for 9.00. a pretty good deal. They have several colors also. On the back it also gives you directions on which part of the eye to put them on so it is even good for people who do not wear eyeshadow often!

update

Well I have not updated too much this week. This is midterm week which I thought I was prepared for but it has ended up being alot more than I anticipated! My professors assigned alot of work that is due after spring break so my goal this week was to finish ALL of that so I did not have to worry about it over Spring Break. My goal was to not do any school work next week! I cant wait.

Yesterday Alex got me a bouquet of my favorite flowers! Daisys. I was very excited. He also took me out to dinner at Zias. We ate 2 bowls of that salad, 3 breadsticks a piece, and finished our dinners. Can we say pigs?! We acted like we had never seen food! It was very nice to spend some quality time with him. He stays at my house all week but I have so much school work to do that I hardly get to talk to him at all.

Well I am going to make dinner (salmon and lobster!) so I will blog later!

ciao

4 days till spring break

-well I am sick. It's just a cold but I hope its gone before my spring break!

-Has anybody else who has over 100 mutual friends with me on facebook noticed how many people are engaged/having a baby?! Most of them are atleast 3 years younger than myself too. I look at my group of friends and just kind of laugh...I definitely won't be in any weddings anytime soon!

-I take vitamin E pills everyday for healthy hair, nails and skin. It just occurred to me how stupid that is lol

-speaking of nails, I have had these acrylic nails on for 3 weeks. I really like them and hope they never break :]

-I got side bangs! They are cute. I have finally found an awesome hairdresser (which are hard to come by)

-my brain is already on spring break I think. I don't feel like doing a damn thing when it comes to schoolwork.

look-a-like

I found a picture of this girl who was in the series "Friday Night Lights" and I think she looks alot like me when I was in highschool (as shown to the right). This was my one and only time being a blonde. I learned my lesson:]

have a nice day!

how we met

Well for those of you who don't know how Alex and I "met" I thought I would tell the story!

I have known Alex for as long as I can remember because his parents and my mom shop at Sysco together. I also knew his sister who tried to strangle me in kindergarden. But him and I did not really know each other in our teen years. I used to date one of his friends when I was 17, 18, and 19. Alex was my absolute least favorite of my boyfriends friends. I hated going to hang out with Alex and I couldn't stand when my boyfriend would hang out with him. Alex was a bad influence (haha). One day I reluctently went to his house and it was freezing cold. We were all standing outside and Alex offered me his huge gothic black leather coat. It was love. HAHA just kidding. But it definitely struck me as sweet and I decided he wasn't so bad after all.

A few years later, Jessica, my ex, and I went over to Alex's house to hang out. I was trying to hook Jessica and Alex up because I thought Alex was kind of, sort of, cute and thought they would be nice together. We all watched a movie and then drank a few beers. Then we decided to play some poker. A game or two later we thought HEY lets play strip poker. So we did and of course we all ended up in our underwear. Then if that wasn't enough, we decided to play spin the bottle.

Here we are 19 and this is my first time playing spin the bottle. It was almost romantic, the fireplace was going, candles were lit, we were all semi-nakie. So first I had to kiss my boyfriend at the time, then Jessica had to kiss Alex, then I kissed Alex and it nearly turned into a 5 minute make-out session right in front of my boyfriend. As soon as our lips touched I knew we would be together at some point.

A few months later him and I began seeing each other here and there. We would see each other for 2 weeks straight and then he wouldn't talk to me for a month. He definitely played a serious game of hard to get. We had such good chemistry and had so much fun together that I could not figure out why he was so off and on. I was so heartbroken that entire summer. I made some of the worst decisions of my life that summer and was hell on heels basically.

Finally it was the end of the summer and my roomate was gone for the week. I was at work bitching about how Alex had broke my heart and Diane said, "Jamie call him up and ask him to dinner". So I thought oh why the hell not. I had nothing else to lose. I asked him over and that night he told me he loved me. I really felt like Diane put a spell on him and my dreams had come true :] We became official shortly thereafter.

So it is almost 3 years since that all took place. I don't know where time goes but I am very thankful to have him in my life. He has taught me so much about life and I feel like for the first time I truly know what it is to love and be loved.

Passion fo fashion

Jess wrote a blog about what she was passionate about so I thought I would do the same!

-Having a pretty house. In this category I include gardening: love everything about it. I also strangely enjoy pulling weeds and cutting grass.

-having people over: this sounds stupid but i love having parties, especially summer parties where we can slip n slide. its also a good excuse to show off my garden to my friends :]

-fashion: new, old, love it all.

-my family, friends, and pets.

-trash to treasure. taking old stuff and making it new.

funny observations of the day

-I was watching Hannah Montana and there was a girl on their with pink hair and it reminded me of my wild teenage years when I wanted Short pink hair, tattoos, and a nose piercing, bellybutton piercing, and Lord only knows what else. Thank goodness I got over that.

-Today I saw a girl carrying a Gucci handbag, wearing Prada sunglasses, a fabulous shirt, 6 inch heels and leggings as pants. WTF. I guess she spent so much on the rest of her outfit that she couldn't afford pants?! oh and she was definitely no skinny minnie.

-my boyfriends dad asked me to join a facebook group called "Don't you hate it when you get dick slapped with a smegma infested penis" or something to that extent. so I mentioned this to Alex and he acted like it was the most normal thing ever. I just don't know what I am getting myself in to!

Ok well I think that covers it :] tata

The average woman falls in love 7 times a year...

and only 6 of those times are with shoes.

Top 10 favorite Designers/Brands:
-Betsey Johnson
- Kenneth Cole (more as a person than designer)
-Marc Jacobs
-Lily Pulitzer
-Ralph Lauren
-Kate Spade
-Zac Posen
-Tiffany & Co.
-Donna Karen
-Juicy Couture

This just reminded me how much I love Kenneth Cole. I have never seen a bag, shoe, dress, or anything that this man has made that I did like but I greatly respect him as a designer. Most importantly I love the statments he has made through his advertising. His advertising is more about the message than the actual product he is selling. He does alot of ads about aids awareness, homosexuality, and political campaigning. I just love his intelligence and his love for the world. I read an awesome book on him and I suggest everyone read it. (Footprints by Kenneth Cole)

fashion majors color and look at magazines all day.

NOTTT. You know how in college everybody has that one or two classes that is absolutely essential to whether or not you graduate? well I am in part two of my class and I am kicking ass and taking names in it! It is Textiles II and it is the heart and soul of fashion merchandising. In textiles I we learned the basics of fabric construction, fabric care, fabric names, we looked in microscopes to see what the fabric is made up of. You can hand me any piece of fabric and I can burn it and by the smell it gives off I can tell you if it is thermoplastic (polyester, nylon, etc..), natural (wool, angora, etc..) or if its a cotton, linen, etc. It is very fun. So i passed that class and now I am in Tetiles II which is basicallly fabric testing. UMES has the second best textiles lab in the United States and I feel so fortunate to be able to use it. We do the same testing on fabric that they do to test astronaut suits. There is so much to this class and I never thought clothing and textiles were so complex. Just think. Fashion merchandising literally deals with everything tangible. The carpet we walk on, sofas we sit on, clothes we wear, drapes hanging in our living room, interior of our cars, the clothes that protect firefighters, EVERYTHING.

Anyhow, I say all this to say...I screwed myself. I went into college picking fashion because I enjoy it and I thought it would be EASY. Boy was I kidding myself. Atleast I have grown a tremendous amount of respect for the industry and myself.

CIAO.

bad mood, bad day.

Ok so I am generally an extremely optimistic person, but I have just been pushed to the brink of insanity.

-My dogs will not stop humping. I have been yelling at them all day to stop. I lock ruby up in the laundry room and rascal up in the bathroom and they howl and howl and bark and scratch at the door. I really cannot afford for Ruby to have puppies. I don't have the time, the energy, or the knowledge. Having puppies is alot of work for the owner. If Ruby neglects the puppies I will have to feed them myself round the clock. Not only that but it takes vet bills, and that is even if she survives giving birth.

-Someone that I grew up with died today. I didn't know him that well in his adult life but he lives down the road from me and he always brought a smile to my face when he would drive by blairing country music or Nickelback. My mom taught him in Sunday school for 10 years and it just is a wierd feeling.

-Lastly, there is a man at college that keeps bothering me. He is married and I don't know how to avoid him because I have all my classses in one building and I feel like he is ALWAYS in there as I pass through. The other day he asked if he could talk to me privately sometime. I have NEVER had a real conversation with him so I dont know what the heck he could possibly want. I just wish he would leave me ALONNNNE.

The Bachelor

I really enjoy The Bachelor. I usually watch the first episode and the last episode just because all the middle episodes are pretty pointless. This show is good for entertainment purposes but lets be realistic. 25 gorgeous women. 1 gorgeous, rich, intelligent man and what do you think you get? DRAMA. Its bad enough dating one man and having to beat off the women with a stick, much less 25 women to 1 man.

Then the situations they put them in are absolutely unreal. Chocolate fondue, hottub every night, 5 star hotels filled with roses and candels, beaches, gourmet meals, horseback riding, massages, mud baths, saunas, exotic vacations, etc.... How about they put these women all together in a real house, doing real things, and lets see how that turns out!

march 1, 2010

Today is like the first unofficial day of Spring in my book. I love spring so much! It is time to start planning my gardening and all the things I want to do with my yard this year. I have come to the conclusion that I may have to expand my garden even further than I had originally planned. I have already dug up about 3 more feet of Iris so that I can plant some wildflower seeds. Here are the seeds I have bought so far this year:

-Echinacea (Purple cone flower)
-Zinnia
-Bachelor's Button
-Sunflower
-Zinnia (candy cane mix)
-shasta daisy (it will be a miricle of these damn things come up)
-Mexican sunflower

I also bought 6 red Gladiolus bulbs. I have never had Gladiolus before and I thought I would give them a shot. So that is all for my flower garden. My vegetable garden I have not given much thought too. Tomatoes, cucumbers, banana peppers are the only things I can come up with so far. Then my herb garden will be basil, mint, cilantro, lemon basil, and parsley. None of them are new. I like growing herbs because they are so easy. They literally spread like weeds.

And lastly, at Lowes last year I bought a rose bush, and a butterfly bush on sale for really cheap at the end of the season. They are in the ground but i missed there blooming season so I am most excited about seeing them bloom this year.

And this is the reason I couldn't bare the thought of leaving my house for 3 months to do an internship!

ttfn.

55 days

-So I just saw on my friends status that there is 55 days left of school.
-yay exciting. except for the fact that I have over 100 pages of papers left to write for projects/everyday assignments. I have roughly a 5 papers due every week. I have kept up with everything really well.
-I have no desire to wear my bellybutton ring anymore. Another reason I feel old.
-My dogs are uncontrollably humping all day. I am really tired of it and I can't wait for her heat to end. pupppies :]
-And for some good news...I am having king crab legs for dinner tonight. I am going to cook them for Alex. :]

everybody have a good week!
