If It's Love

This song reminds me of Alex :]

"If It's Love"

While everybody else is getting out of bed
I'm usually getting in it
I'm not in it to win it
And there's a thousand ways you can skin it

My feet have been on the floor
Flat like an idle singer
Remember winger
I digress
I confess you are the best thing in my life

But I'm afraid when I hear stories
About a husband and wife
There's no happy endings
No Henry Lee
But you are the greatest thing about me

[Chorus]
If it's love
And we decide that it's forever
No one else could do it better
If it's love
And we're two birds of a feather
Then the rest is just whenever
And if I'm addicted to loving you
And you're addicted to my love too
We can be them two birds of a feather
That flock together
Love, love
Got to have something to keep us together
Love, Love
That's enough for me

Took a loan on a house I own
Can't be a queen bee without a bee throne
I wanna buy ya everything
Except cologne
'cause it's poison
We can travel to Spain where the rain falls
Mainly on the plain side and sing
'cause it is we can laugh we can sing
Have ten kids and give them everything
Hold our cell phones up in the air
And just be glad we made it here alive
On a spinning ball in the middle of space
I love you from your toes to your face

[Chorus]

You can move in
I won't ask where you've been
'cause everybody has a past
When we're older
We'll do it all over again

When everybody else is getting out of bed
I'm usually getting in it
I'm not in it to win it
I'm in it for you

If it's love
And we're two birds of a feather
Then the rest is just whenever
Then the rest is just whenever

If it's love
And we decide that it's forever
No one else could do it better
And if I'm addicted to loving you
And you're addicted to my love too
We can be them two birds of a feather
That flock together
Love, love
Got to have something to keep us together
Love, love
Got to have something to keep us together
Love, love
That's enough for me

Sunflower

If only we could all be as honest and upright as sunflowers.

eclipse

According to facebook tonight is the premiere of "Eclipse". I can't say I understand the appeal of this movie. Of course I haven't seen the first one but I have no desire to because the main actors are like 12! Ok, I don't really know how old they are but they don't look very old at all. You know I say that but if Harry Potter was coming out I would be all over that! haha. Maybe this Twilight stuff will be like Harry Potter. By the time the 3rd Harry Potter came out I thought Oh heck I might as well go see what all the excitement was and I LOVED IT. Such a good plot and very exciting. The first 2 movies weren't as exciting but the last few were really awesome. And I definitely think to better understand the last few it is a good idea to see the first two.

If you are into vampires and such then you should really watch True Blood. Now that is a good show. Actually it is good even if you don't like vampires (like myself).

Stars on True Blood-Atleast they are adults!

mall trip

Tonight I called up Lauren and asked if she wanted to go to the mall and of course she was game. The real reason I wanted to go was I was itching for a new MAC lipstick. I ended up getting a cremesheen glass gloss and the shade is "loud and lovely" which is funny because Lauren is loud and I am lovely. She will KILL me if she reads this haha. It is a hot pink gloss perfect for everyday wear (which is what I was after).

Then we went to Victoria's Secret because I had a 10 off card. I found a bikini for 26 bucks and with the ten dollars off it was only 16! Not half bad. It is denim and has a triangle top and a bottom that ties on the sides. I can tell Alex will love it because it is different and not something I would usually pick out. The top has indian embroidery on it. Speaking of Victoria's Secret, i am really hoping my friends throw me a lingerie bridal shower (hint hint haha). Since I have been moved out for 4 years I have pretty much already accumulated everything one would need for a house and I could always use more underwear and stuff haha. Plus I think that would be so much fun to open up at a shower! I have been to a million bridal showers and boy can they be boring for the guests!

Boy do I have a busy weekend ahead of me. Thursday Alex and I are going to Water Country then to my sisters house for dinner and after that to the Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball game. After the baseball game we are watching fireworks. That will be the first time Alex and I have ever been to water country together, seen a baseball game and seen fireworks together. Can you believe that?! We are definitley in need of this trip haha. Then that night we are staying at my sisters house and coming home the next day. On the way home we are stopping at El Maguey, which is the best Mexican restraunt I have ever been too.

Saturday I am working at Parker Place and then that night Jess and I are going to Oc. On Sunday I am having a Fourth of July Party and of course we are going to slip n slide all afternoon. Sounds like a fun weekend to me.

Have a wonderful week and Happy Fourth of July!!!

forgot to mention

I forgot to mention that today I went to Mass!! A few weeks ago I was at Jessicas house and her mom gave me a copy of the newsletter and I noticed that mass began at 11am. I nearly kicked myself because for the last year I have been saying Alex and I couldn't go because he didn't get off of work until 3am and I didn't want to wake him up at 7 for mass. So we went and I enjoyed it. We sat next to Alex and Lisa and their adorable kids so it was quite a pleasant experience. Ok thats all.

yada yada

As I sit here with a honey and sugar mask on my face I can't help but think....Isn't this whole acne breakout thing supposed to end in your teens?! I blame this on late puberty that I still breakout haha.

Anyhow this weekend I had alot of stuff planned. Yesterday mom and I went to do some wedding buying. Its not even called planning anymore because planning doesn't cost money haha. We went to parties etc... and picked out chairs for the reception and wedding, tables, linens, dance floor, archway, and so on. That is all going to be a pretty penny. Chairs alone will cost up to 500 bucks! I am still trying to decide on flamingo pink or magenta for the table linens. Magenta would be better for a September wedding being that it is close to fall. The flamingo pink was pretty but maybe to classic and girly. Then after that we did an extensive amount of shopping...my favorite purchase of the day was purple coach flip flops with a butterfly on the top! They were reduced to 40 bucks at Marshall's..good find.

Today Nicole came over and we ate crabs that my friend Tina gave me. They were quite delicious! Just now I did some scrapbooking! I am not a scrap booking type but I am documenting the engagement, engagement party and all the days to follow..

OH GUESS WHAT?! I am going to water country Thursday!!! so excited. I better tell Anne that I can't work. Water Country is calling my name.

Have a great week people!

mac

I feel like I blog alot about MAC makeup but I truly don't know how I lived before it. I have gotten to the point where I don't where any other brand (besides Clinique, my first love). MAC is made out to be like its super expensive (I get that feeling when I walk by the fancy kiosk in Macys), but it in actuality is affordable for here and there things. Three things I really spend money on is good foundation, good lipstick, and good mascara. Bronzer, eyeliner, blush, and all in between are things you can generally get away with wearing drug store brand in. Mac lipstick is about 14 dollars (10 dollars at the makeup outlet). I feel like that is a small price to pay for a pick me up. If you go to the kiosk in the mall they will even help you find the perfect color you are looking for to match your skin!

MAC moistureblend foundation in the compact is the best stuff for any time of year. It blends in super well with your skin and skin tone and its moist like liquid but kind of solid like powder. I have never had another foundation like it. In the winter I smear it on every inch of my face, in the summer I only put it on areas that need some coverage. I basically use it like a concealer in the summer. It doesn't dry my skin out, nor does is make it breakout because it is not oily. I also like the moistureblend blush and bronzers. The foundation is pricey but as we all know the perfect foundation is ridiculously hard to find and I feel like MAC really has a good product.

As far as mascara I stay true to Clinique. No other brand will ever compare to them as far as mascara is concerned. Separates your lashes nicely, makes them look long and thick. Basically does everything a mascara needs to. I think a mascara is under 20 as well.

Anyhow I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

storm

Tonight we had the most beautiful/noisy thunderstorm I have ever seen/heard in my whole life. I loved it. After the storm, the temperature in my house dropped atleast 15 degrees (thank goodness!!). It was the perfect ending to a day spent by myself (the majority anyhow). Anne called me this morning and told me it was too hot to work in Parker Place today (no ac there either!). So I stayed home and slip n slided for the morning. Then in the afternoon after Alex brought me lunch, I did some gardening. It was a really nice day.

Alex and I are kind of back to not knowing whether to buy 510 or not. Yesterday we were talking and it occurred to me that after we buy 510 we are kind of stuck there. We wouldn't be able to move if we wanted too. Right now just seems to early to limit ourselves like that. We are young! If we decide we want to up and move out of the state then we should be able to! Between the two of us we have four places that we could potentially live right now. My house is the easiest and most affordable option. Bottom line is we don't know what we want except each other and thats all we need really.

The little things...

Today my plan was to tackle the all the "little things" that were making my to do list a mile long. I made a dentist appointment (check!), called the merry sherwood and booked the wedding (check), then went to mom to write the check out to merry sherwood so i can mail it tomorrow (check), then i called the lady about taking Catholic classes in the fall but she didn't pick up so that didn't get a check :[

But I still feel kind of accomplished, next is to call the photographer back and book her for september 24th and also arrange a date for engagement photos.

I can't get over how much it costs to have a wedding. I can already tell I am going to spend well over my alloted budget...Oh well, you only get married once and I plan to make it everything Alex and I could ever want it to be!

annoying people

For the past week i have gotten 4 calls at the same time everyday from someone I don't know. When I pick up they don't say anything. If this had happend once I would not think anything of it. The fact that it has happend at the same time, 4 times this week it is really getting on my nerves. One day I decided to call this person back and their voicemail said "Hi this is Nickie, leave a message" Ok Nickie, whoever you may be, leave me ALONE!!!

Then today I got a call from some woman with a princess anne phone number and she asked "what Jesse was doing". I just told her she had the wrong number.

I really hope this is a coincidence because I think I have FINALLY gotten Jesse to stop bugging me and I hope he doesn't have some woman bothering me now. Lord, he has been nothing but a pain in the ass ever since I met him. I curse the day I was ever introduced to him!

Ok, that is my ranting for the night. Please pray these people leave me alone.

National Cathedral

I haven't blogged in quite a while so I will update you on my happenings here lately! On Wednesday Alex and I went to Annapolis and walked around downtown, got sushi at Nano, and went to the mall. At about 5 we decided to drive over to D.C. to go to Betsey Johnson and visit Amanda at her new house. We had dinner at our favorite Georgetown bar, Mr. Smith's and while waiting for Amanda we walked around the National Cathedral. The cathedral was absolutely the most beautiful building I've ever seen. I loved it. We went at night and walked all around it and they had spotlights surrounding it so all of the angles and curves were very dramatic. We walked through the Bishop's garden as well, and sat for a while and talked. Then we went to pick up Amanda and hang out at a local bar in the new town where she lives. It was a very fun day overall!

I found out some information about becoming Catholic today. The classes start in September and end by Easter of the next year. That will be in plenty of time before the wedding so Father Porter can marry us! I am excited about the classes and everything. Alex is going to go and be my mentor. In the meanwhile I will keep reading my catholic book.

Well that is all for now. This upcoming week is full of yardwork, and taking care of stuff over at the new house. Peace and Blessings, Peace and BLESSINGS :] bahaha.

the view from my front porch.

The view from my front porch is a large field wrapping around a beautiful white house. Around the large farm house is several abandoned barns, enormous trees, and grass that is rarely ever cut. In the spring you will see a tattered American flag flying in the breeze with a ring of red and yellow tulips surrounding it. Behind the house is the railroad track that I can't actually see from my porch but I can see the train as it goes by at noon and 11pm everyday. On summer nights the fire flys dance in the field and look like the stars that are just above them- its almost difficult to see where the land ends and the sky begins. I can remember a lot of nights laying in my front yard star watching with Alex while he plays the guitar. These are my favorite things about the view from my front porch.

it is HOTTT in heree

As most of you know, I don't have air conditioning. Most of the time during the summer it really doesn't bother me because I spend so much time outside. This week I have alot of things to do inside and I am boiling. Yesterday I took 3 showers! I have to say my complection is nice because I'm sweating so much! Anyhow, I had a list of things I wanted to do today but they really didn't get accomplished :[

Tomorrow I was going to finish painting my shutters and wednesday Alex and I were going to water country but the forecast is calling for thundershowers both days so we are just going to play this week by ear. Regardless, I am glad to get to spend 2 days with Alex. He hasn't had a day off in 2 weeks.

This week is firefighters convention in Ocean City. This means OC will be crawling with sexy firefighters from the East Coast. On saturday Jess and I are going up to meet some firefighters from New York that I met last year. My favorite firefighter in particular is named Gary and he is alot of fun so I can't wait for Jess to meet him. He is close to 50 and he told me he was in a firefighters of New York calender...I didn't believe him but the week after the convention last year he sent me his calender! There Gary was, Mr. April in all his glory!

Anyhow have a steamy week (take that however you may!)

Richmond

I have been in Richmond since Thursday! And ready to go home! Kids are so tiresome. I just don't ever see myself having any but who knows... Yesterday we went to Homegoods which is a division of Marshalls. Boy was that exciting. I bought some stuff for the new house.

I also found a woman to do the engagement photos. If I like her work she will do the wedding as well. Her work is absolutely amazing and she was highly recommended by Anne so I trust her opinion. Things seem to be moving right along with wedding planning. Venue. caterer. chair, tent, linen, china rental. engagement pics. YAY this wedding stuff is kind of easy.

OH I can't believe I almost forgot to mention this...I think the other day I blogged about wanting a ruby rolex...well I mentioned it to mom and we went and looked at them yesterday. So now I have to decide whether I want a new car or a Rolex for my graduation/weding gift. A new car would be practical I realiz, but the Rolex is something I would have forever, and I could pass it on. Plus cars come and go, I know that I will buy a new car in the future, but I will never have another opportunity to own a watch that costs 27,000. So I am getting the watch. It is being specially made so I don't have a picture of what it will look like but I will describe it: solid 18kt yellow gold, the numbers will have rubys on them, and there is 50 diamonds going around the watchface. It is absolutely breathtaking, and it looks amazing with my engagement ring!

martha stewart

I was sitting here wondering today why exactly it is that Alex and I wanted such a long engagement when we already live like married people and today while reading a martha stewart magazine I remembered...I wanted to MAKE alot of stuff for the wedding! I wanted to make jewelry for the bridesmaids, table decorations, ceremony decorations, and MAYBE even the invitations...I almost think it would be cheaper just to pay someone else to make them because I would have to buy a quality printer and it would take forever to do all the handwork that I would want done. One day long ago I even wanted to make my dress...Thank goodness I am over that haha.

Right now my latest obsession is Rolex's. My sister got a Rolex when she graduated college and I can't help but hope that maybe I will get one too. haha. I put in the word to mom for a Ruby Rolex today...I think I am going to talk to dad about it...always a better chance with him. I don't even want to get my hopes up. The ones I saw were 14,000 to 34,000.

Ok well I am going to Richmond for the weekend so I hope all of you have a great weekend as well!

meant to say

I meant to include in the last blog that:

-I lost 10 pounds
-I painted my shutters today with the help of Gabi and Alex!
-Alex and I decided we want to buy 510 and just live at my house till it is live-able.

zach's birthday

Today is my nephew's 3rd birthday!! I remember three years ago when he was born I went to visit and hang out with Joanna to make her feel special for a few days. I remember being there and being so upset because Alex wasn't talking to me. I would stay up ALL night long thinking about what I was going to do about the situation. I wish I had told myself to go to sleep and not worry about it because now here we are three years later getting married. haha. That is how life is sometimes.

Today Alex and I were talking about marriage and how we want ours to be. And the truth of it is...we can most definitely have anything we want out of the marriage if we work at it. I know the areas I personally struggle with and need to work on and I assume he knows his areas as well. The other day Anne and I were talking to this really cute couple who had been married for 36 years. You could just tell how much they loved each other and how happy they looked so Anne asked what it is about their marriage that keeps it going and the woman said there is no hate between the two of them. That kind of reminded me of Alex and I. We really don't fight at all. When I worked at Cato I was telling my boss how good Alex and I meshed together and I told her we never argued and she said "I think that is bad and it shows a lack of passion". I felt so bad about that for along time and i just can't help but feel like what she said came from a bit of jealousy. If I came from a relationship where the only time I felt any passion for the other person is after fighting then I guess I would say that too.

hair

As you may remember I went to get a hair cut the other day. Let me tell you about my experience. Like I had said, I really had a vision of this haircut that I wanted because I have had it before and LOVED it. Dramatic layers, all around my head. back front, sides...you get the point. I took 2 pictures and was well prepared to get alot of hair chopped off. I got there at 3:10ish and left at 5:10ish!!! I was so extremely tired by the time the hair cut was over. I went to pay and had brought 50 bucks with me because I have been to this salon several times and have never paid more than 25 dollars for a hair cut. The total was 47.00!! So I told her I would come back tomorrow to give her a tip. I did go back the next day (clear to Salisbury) and gave her another 10 dollars for tip so she had a total of 13 dollars for a tip!

As for the haircut...not really what I wanted but I am turning out to like it alot. She took off alot of hair off in the front (framing my face) but not much in the back. When I wash it I can really tell she took alot off and the knots are almost eliminated!!! I have to say I have ended up being thrilled about it. And when I wear my hair in a ponytail there is alot of hair left around my face (which I like).

You know me though, I have another hair appointment scheduled with a ritzier salon in downtown Salisbury named Enza's. I went there the other day for a hair consultation (because I still want REAL layers) and they thought layers were a great idea for my needs and they explained exactly how they would do it. Then they raved about how healthy my hair is (and I thought to myself...yea I have had 5 haircuts already this year it better be healthy). So that appointment is in July...just in time for Gabi's wedding.

I really can't believe I just rambled on all this time about my hair but who cares haha.

today

Today I woke up and felt like being productive...as usual. So I was!

I began the three part process of painting my shutters. Today I scrubbed them. Quite possibly the most difficult part. It was a pain lugging the ladder, hose, and bucket all over the yard!!! Then tomorrow I am priming them and Tuesday they are getting painted. While I was at it I also scrubbed my front porch down (for the second time this year). After that I did three loads of laundry, washed by bed, re-arranged the guest bedroom, made dinner, and watered the plants.

That was my day! I will keep you updated on my shutters :]

Other things on my to do list:

paint laundry room
paint hallway
wash windows (for the first time maybe ever?)
paint refrigerator with appliance paint

hair in unpleasant places

This has been a very adventurous week. I have slip n slided, gone to the beach, and all sorts of other summer activities. I even tanned naked in the backyard (in Stockton, NOT MY HOUSE!!). Anyhow these summer activities have made me realize that my hair is a freakin pain in the ass! I am starting to feel like a horse. It is sticky, and long, and hot and annoying. So I had a fabulous idea...why don't I get some layers?! So tomorrow I am getting dramatic layers. Another good point about extreme layers is that I can curl it and the curl will actually hold. It is a win, win situation! Not losing any length but getting rid of the hair thats holding me back from being volumptuous, easy, and breezy haha. So I am really excited. I also think having short layers wil prevent alot of these knots I am dealing with. I love long hair but it never looks good anymore. Anytime I am going to do anything other than sitting around I have to wear it in pigtails or a pony tail. The past few times I have gotten dressed up I have wore my hair in a ponytail...thats not a good sign. So wish me luck!

ps. I have really exciting news but I am not allowed to talk about it yet...stay tuned

theme

cakes to go with my pink polka dotted themed wedding!

blog post 100!!

I began blogging in February. That rounds out to about 25 posts per month. That means I blog almost everyday of the month excluding weekends! That is dedication right? haha

Last weekend I went to Baltimore to visit Jess and we went to the Baltimore Zoo! I haven't been since I was a kid so it was fun to see what I don't remember seeing 17 years ago. I was by far the most impressed by the warthog. That is kind of funny considering the zoo has all of these majestic animals like the Jaguar, Lion, Giraffe, Elephants, and Zebras. But the ugly little warthog was my favorite. He had little to no hair on his body but down his back he had a mane of long straggly hair that almost touched the ground! He also had tusks! He was the most gnarly animal I had ever seen and it made me want one in my backyard haha. While at the zoo we also rode the Camel. I don't think I would have persisted on riding it if it wasn't for seeing the girls on Sex & the City ride a camel in their new movie a few days prior! Later that day we went horse back riding on the most intense trail I had ever been on. It was a little over an hour and we were going up and down hills, sliding in mud, walked through a river that was so high Jessica's legs were wet! We also did alot of trotting (my horse was slow so I felt like I was trotting the whole time just to keep up). It was quite an adventure and my ass hasn't forgotten it yet (sore). That night we went to Hightops. It was a bar in Timonium and we ended up seeing 2 guys that we saw at Seacrets a few weeks prior. Is that weird or what?

Since I got home I have been gardening like crazy. I bought new plants to put in my beds and pots, and have been busy tending to the seeds I planted a few weeks ago. My sunflowers are a few feet high already! It is looking like this may be another productive year in my backyard.
