  1. The Golden Gate is about 8 hours drive away, but the Giant Sequoia's are about 4-5.
I really want you guys to see the forrest. There is nothing in the world like seeing and walking among these beautiful giants. During the time you will be here, I am going to do anything I can to make sure you get to see them. It will be cold there, but not freezing, so you will need your hiking boots and at least a down vest. The vest's work really good here for winter, because you just have to dress in layers.

I really wish you guys would drive out. That way you can see soooo much on the way, and then go anywhere you want when your here. Everything you do here you have to drive or drive to the train station and take the train. You could take the train to SF and get around SF without a car, but that and Venice are the only CA towns you don't need a car. The train takes the coast up through wine country, Big Sur, Santa Cruz (the beach town in full house with the rollercoaster in the scene. It's a beautiful little college town), then finally on to SF. Once you see SF you will never go home! It has the east coast architectural charm, with the crazy CA funk factor.
It's very classy like DC, with tons of museums and incredible scenery all with a fog horn that blows on and off all day.
You will definately be able to work on your tan, and you will only want to stick a toe in the Pacific. It's always cold, even if it's 100 on the beach the Pacific never really gets to 70. Although it's very blue and gorgeous.
Shopping is the easy part. Rodeo Drive is in Beverly Hills. Hollywood is about 5 miles away. We'll definately do all of that, and take Sunset Strip from Hollywood all the way through Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Pacific Palisades and down to the ocean. It one of the best drives in the world.
I'm getting so excited thinking about seeing you!
We can probably pick you up in Vegas, or if your gonna rent a car, then just go ahead and rent from there which is one of the cheapest places to rent from. Just make sure your contract allows for traveling out of state, and free mileage. As you will cover a lot of territory, but it's all highway miles.
