march 1, 2010

Today is like the first unofficial day of Spring in my book. I love spring so much! It is time to start planning my gardening and all the things I want to do with my yard this year. I have come to the conclusion that I may have to expand my garden even further than I had originally planned. I have already dug up about 3 more feet of Iris so that I can plant some wildflower seeds. Here are the seeds I have bought so far this year:

-Echinacea (Purple cone flower)
-Zinnia
-Bachelor's Button
-Sunflower
-Zinnia (candy cane mix)
-shasta daisy (it will be a miricle of these damn things come up)
-Mexican sunflower

I also bought 6 red Gladiolus bulbs. I have never had Gladiolus before and I thought I would give them a shot. So that is all for my flower garden. My vegetable garden I have not given much thought too. Tomatoes, cucumbers, banana peppers are the only things I can come up with so far. Then my herb garden will be basil, mint, cilantro, lemon basil, and parsley. None of them are new. I like growing herbs because they are so easy. They literally spread like weeds.

And lastly, at Lowes last year I bought a rose bush, and a butterfly bush on sale for really cheap at the end of the season. They are in the ground but i missed there blooming season so I am most excited about seeing them bloom this year.

And this is the reason I couldn't bare the thought of leaving my house for 3 months to do an internship!
